I used to love colouring books as a child. When I was a little girl the geometric design books were all the rage and I’d spend hours colouring in and making up elaborate designs. I’m not sure at what point I put my colouring pencils away, but it was a long time ago. It’s silly really, as it’s a great way to switch off and relax. These days I’ve realised the importance of giving myself time to just be, and I try hard to take time out to just chill a little and step back from being a busy Mum. The Ravensburger Colin Thompson Funtastic Adult Colouring Book is my latest tool to achieve 5 minutes peace in a hectic day.
I discovered the artist Colin Thompson when I started reviewing for Ravensburger. They’ve transformed a number of his designs into jigsaw puzzles and they are just a delight to complete. They are always packed full of detail and colour. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the Ravensburger Colin Thompson Funtastic Adult Colouring Book so I could start to add my own spin on his designs.
The 72 page colouring book, includes 35 double spreads of his designs and is going to keep me busy for a long time. The designs are intricate and this book is really suitable for older children, aged 12+ and up, including adults who like a challenge.
The half tones give a real depth to the illustrations and as with all Colin Thompson’s work, there is so much detail to each page.
Whether you like books, musical instruments or far away lands, there’s something to inspire everyone in the Ravensburger Colin Thompson Funtastic Adult Colouring Book.
I’ve been really spoilt for choice as to where to start with this book. But the beauty of it is, that you can start colouring one page, leave it and go on to another and then go back again. I’m colouring in covertly, as I’m borrowing my son’s colouring pencils and he gets a tad possessive over them!
It’s lovely to see the designs come to life as you start to fill them with colour. There is no right or wrong, it’s all just personal taste.
I’m itching to get started on the Bizarre Bookshop with its shelves of old and intriguing titles. But I’m saving that for the holidays. In the meantime, I’ve also started on this illustration, which reminds me a little of my best friend’s barn conversion and her roll top bath.
For £9.99 this book is an absolute bargain, and I’m going to enjoy every moment of my colouring time. I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link below in case you fancy buying yourself a copy.
