Project 365 2017 Week 6-7 Day 36 – 49 Sunday 5th Feb  – Day 36 After a rather stressful week, a quiet family day was in order. We finally got to order our carpet and flooring and just need to organise fitting dates.  The fitters want completely bare floors when they arrive… Continue reading »

Discovering Port Meadow for the first time

Discovering Port Meadow for the first time

I’m conscious of the fact that there is so much of Oxfordshire that we haven’t explored.  I think, like most people we tend to have our adventures away from home.  Often ignoring what’s on our doorstep.  This became glaringly apparent following a recent review trip to The Perch on the… Continue reading »

Project 366 2016 Week 37

Project 366 2016 Week 37 Day 255-261.  It’s been an up and down sort of week here.  The reality of being back at school. Sunday 11th September – Day 255 We’d been invited to The Perch on the outskirts of Oxford city centre for lunch, and afterwards explored Port Meadow and the… Continue reading »

A belated anniversary lunch at The Perch in Oxford

A belated anniversary lunch at The Perch in Oxford

Daddy P and I have been married for 7 years. With him being back to full on work mode after our Cornish holiday and Monkey going back to school, it really got rather forgotten. So on Sunday we enjoyed a belated anniversary lunch at The Perch in Oxford. It was going… Continue reading »

Lunchtime at The Longwall Beefeater Oxford

Lunchtime at The Longwall Beefeater Oxford

I really haven’t been very organised since Monkey and I returned from Spain.  The thought of a supermarket shop with him never frills me. So with bare cupboards we headed over for lunchtime at The Longwall Beefeater Oxford on Sunday.  No cooking for me meant a little extension to our holiday…. Continue reading »

Exploring Oxford Castle Unlocked with a not so timid child

Exploring Oxford Castle Unlocked with a not so timid child

It’s no big secret that I like castles, they’ve been a passion since childhood.  It’s a passion I’m passing on to Monkey. I want him to realise that history isn’t boring, it’s not just about memorising a load of dates.  It’s real, it’s our past, it’s important.  He is constantly… Continue reading »

A family trip to Hollywood Bowl Oxford

A family trip to Hollywood Bowl Oxford

Tem pin bowling has been Monkey’s choice for a birthday party treat for the last few years. Every time we go, we say we must go more often.  We aren’t very good at keeping that promise!  Time to change that with a family trip to Hollywood Bowl Oxford. Previously known at Bowlplex,… Continue reading »

A lunchtime treat at the Castleyard Cafe Oxford

A lunchtime treat at the Castleyard Cafe Oxford

Monkey and I were spending a day in our county city recently and we were invited to have a lunchtime treat at the Castleyard Cafe Oxford.  The cafe is right next door to the Oxford Castle, and only a few minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Actually it’s a… Continue reading »

A first visit to Oxford University Parks

A first visit to Oxford University Parks

Considering how close we live to Oxford, I really haven’t explored the city very much.  I keep meaning to take Monkey on one of the open top bus tours so we can both learn a little more about a county city.  A couple of months ago we were there to… Continue reading »

Dinosaur Dinnertime? Silent Sunday My Sunday Photo 290516

Dinosaur Dinnertime? Silent Sunday My Sunday Photo 290516

Last Sunday we spent the afternoon in Oxford.  We popped into the Oxford University Museum of Natural History for a while.  It looked very much as if it was Dinosaur Dinnertime from this viewpoint! Those poor people.
