My son is the master of delaying tactics at bedtime. Sometimes I get cross; I’ve got things to do downstairs, I’m tired, friends coming round, blah blah blah. Sometimes I laugh and join in.
Tonight I just enjoyed it all; the extra cuddles, the headlock to wrestle me onto his pillow, the ‘please Mummy, just one more story, the ‘Mummy, Teddy needs a kiss, Moo Moo needs a kiss’, the singing.
It’s all too easy to rush through life and these little experiences, and take it all for granted. 3 years have gone by in a flash; what will he be like at bedtime when he’s 6, and at school?
I just realised – forget the time, sit back and enjoy it, take it all in, value it, it’s a special time with my little boy.
My little Monkey will be a big Gorilla before I know it!
“Just one more story!” – I know that one so well!
Would love for you to link it up at my new Empty Your Archive link party which is a chance to dust off great posts from your archive – there is a focus this week on sleep and bedtime – would really love to see you there, Alice @ Mums Make Lists x
Thanks for the invite, have joined your Linky but couldn’t get your badge to work on my site. Will have a good look at the other contributors tonight 🙂
Ah, yes! It always amazes me how many ways they can think of to keep you there – some of them quite irresistible 🙂 #PoCoLo
Aren’t they. Little monkey’s on and all 🙂
I will have to remember to savour these moments! 🙂
In think we all need to sit back sometimes and just remember how quickly our kids will all grow up 🙂
My kids are much bigger and they are MASTERS at bedtime delaying tactics. Frankly I’ve had enough of it! They’re not cute any more, they just mess around. Plus my boys are expert at what conversations to have with Daddy so he lets them get away with it! But totally understand you wanting to enjoy cute bedtime with your little boy. I still enjoy it with my 7 year old girl – she’s still cute!
I have older nieces and nephews so I know what’s coming up too, thanks for visiting and commenting 🙂
PS Found you on PoCoLo!
I love this! I can relate so much. Eliza is exactly the same, actually she’s much better now but believe me she’d give Monkey a run for his money in her heyday. She had some crackers. ‘I need a poo’ was always the one guaranteed to get my attention. And then the long, drawn out, rituals we had to go through. 2 stories, 1 song, 3 head strokes, mummy on the floor, then by the door, then finally through the door, down the stairs and into a large glass of wine! Fun times 🙂
lol – had a few of those myself. Got to love them 🙂
what a gorgeous smile, that what makes it harder in this house, he flashes his grin! x
yes, and he knows exactly when to turn on the charm – Monkey is very apt with him 🙂
What a cheeky little gorgeous face he has. My daughter is 6 now and she doesn’t try it on at bedtime as much as she used to. I still enjoy the slightly prolonged saying goodnight of kiss blowing and heart throwing 🙂 Thank you so much for linking up with PoCoLo and for your support x
A lovely post. It’s always good to have a reminder that even the little annoyances should be treasured before they’re gone.
Thanks for your comment
Thanks, I’ll be visiting again soon 🙂
