I think it’s fairly obvious to any reader of this blog that I LOVE books, I have felt the same way all my life, and will do my best to pass the passion on to Monkey. Daddy P doesn’t read anything – tut, tut!
As an adult I have tended to hoard all my books and then read them again years later. Our spare room is really my personal library, but I have decided to start sifting through the books I have, to make way for Monkey’s ever expanding collection.
Whilst sorting through one shelf I re-discovered some treasured possessions from my childhood. Firstly, two Paddington Bear Books and Children of the New Forest. These lovely Puffin Books had belonged to my Uncle (who passed on his passion for books) and he gave them to me in 1977 when I was 9 years old. They have been well read and well loved.
Secondly, a Scholastics book called High Country Adventure that I picked at the end of my time at my First School, which has been signed by all the school teachers, the headmaster and even the caretaker. I would have been 8-9 so again I’ve had this book since 1976-7. Another treasured possession.
I don’t suppose that there is any monetary value to any of these books, but to me they are totally priceless possessions 🙂 and bring back lots of memories from my childhood.
