Monkey’s imagination

My son just makes me laugh – his speech has come on in leaps and bounds these last six months, and his imagination never ceases to amaze me.  He also seems to be absorbing so much information and then adding that newly gained knowledge into his play – fascinating to watch.

As you’ll know from a recent post, we recently visited the Tractor Ted Farm show.  While we were there, there was a Digger display with two backhoe loaders driven by Digger Dave and Digger Tim.  The diggers were JCB’s – just about Monkey’s favourite vehicle ever.

Yesterday he got his toy diggers out – JCB, Bob the Builder, you name it, and then treated me to his own display.  It was brilliant.  He’d taken everything he’d seen in the show onboard and made his own routine, adding obstacles etc to make the display interesting for his audience.  I wish I’d videoed it, but to be frank, I was just enjoying being part of his fun, and I just wanted to be in the moment with him – do you know what I mean?

Anyway, at regular intervals, I was told ‘Mummy – wave at Digger Tim / Dave’  and given a rundown of what was happening.

Another result of watching the show displays has resulted in him actually eating a little bit of potato!  He now tells me that new potatoes are in fact hay bales, that Tractor Driver Les has been busy wrapping (another part of the show we watched) and that it is his job to unwrap them!  He’s done this a few times over the last week at dinner time and has then actually eaten a bit of his hay bale.

So between Tractor Ted and JCB’s Larry Loadall, we’re getting some veg inside him!

I’m left wondering what he’ll come up with next 🙂

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
