Tractor Ted – DVD review – Meets More Animals and Showtime – AD sent for review

disclosure:  We were sent these DVD’s for the purpose of review, our comments throughout, remain our own, honest thoughts.

As you’ll remember from my previous post we were recently sent some lovely goodies by the people at Tractor Ted.

Tractor Ted selection

Tractor Ted is a little green tractor who lives in Tractorland. Today we decided to watch a couple of the DVD’s, the first being Tractor Ted Meets More Animals.

Tractor Ted Meets more Animals

This is a sequel to Tractor Ted meets the Animals DVD, but it doesn’t ruin your enjoyment if you don’t have both DVDs. What we loved about this DVD was the introduction to different kinds of farm animals from your traditional cows, pigs etc.  We got to learn all about Buffalo farming, from meeting the calves to learning about the animals themselves and all about producing Buffalo mozzarella cheese.  It was fascinating and again, we all learnt something from the DVD. We also got to see Alpacas and Wild Boar – which my son instantly realised were a different kind of pig.

As with the other Tractor Ted DVD’s we’ve reviewed recently, there is a good mix between animals and machinery, so again, my son was enthralled whilst learning lots of new things.

We watched tyres being changed on a telehandler, and then when we visited the Tractor Ted Farm Show a few weeks ago – we got to watch the same thing happening to a tractor.  He had remembered the process and kept us all informed on what would happen next.

The factual content of this 40 minute DVD (and the rest of the range) is brilliant, it’s aimed at the over 3-year-olds, so perfect for my son.  As with all the DVD’s in the range (there are 16 in total), there are catchy little songs to sing which Monkey now loves singing to me at every opportunity.  There are also songs you can sing along to during the DVD, and you can watch them separately (a feature of all the DVD’s).

Next up was Tractor Ted Showtime, quite apt as we were due to visit the Tractor Ted Farm show.

Tractor Ted Showtime

In this adventure, we follow a farm family as they visit a Farm Show.  All the children have farm animals to exhibit at the show in varying sizes.  We watch the children prepare the animals for the show and follow them through the day.

My son loved watching the various machines which were taken to the show and seeing the cattle crushers being manoeuvred around by the forklift.  The machinery was prepared for the show in the same way as the animals, I think he would have loved to be let loose with a hose or pressure washer! The DVD was a great introduction for him on what to expect at a Farm Show and all the behind the scenes preparation that we would not normally see.  Add in some motorcycle stunt driving and some vintage tractors – he was in heaven, again.

We thoroughly enjoyed both DVD’s and will share our thoughts on the others items we received over the coming weeks.

The DVD’s retail at £9.99 each (2013 price) and as I’ve said in previous reviews I think this represents great value for money as they are really educational and presented in a way that holds a child’s attention.  The Tractor Ted range can be purchased directly through the website or through retailers across the country.
