Six months ago my son had chickenpox and I decided to get my ‘blog head’ on and get Over 40 and a Mum to One started.
Then the plan was to talk about being an older Mum and how I coped with it all – never really got round to that! But the blog was going to be something for me, a way to express myself, something that was mine. I’d got a bit lost in being a full-time Mum and with the hours Daddy P works, I frankly feel like a single parent most of the time. I needed something to focus on, to prove that I still had a brain lurking around somewhere.
What a journey the last six months have been, I can’t quite believe what this little blog has become. It really is my second baby, I’m very proud of it and what we’ve achieved.
I have ‘met the most amazing bunch of people, who have inspired me, helped me, answered my many dumb questions, and passed opportunities my way.
It all began with a tweet from Orchard Toys mentioning Izziwizzi Kids and #playfest – and me being nosey.
I want to mention just some of the great bloggers (sorry if you’re not listed, doesn’t mean you’re not appreciated – I truly could have gone on and no) who have got me to the point of being a SELF-HOSTED BLOG!!! In no particular order …
Red Rose Mummy, The Brick Castle, The Soup Dragon Says, ET Speaks from Home, Writings, Rambling and Reviews, Mummy’s Little Star’s, Yummy Mummy Flabby Tummy, What me and the boys say, The Life of Spicers, In the Playroom, Mummy of Two, My Mummy’s World, This is me …. Sarah Mum of three, Chez Maximka, The Olivers Madhouse and Verily, Victoria Vocalises – great blogs, lovely ladies, a couple of whom I’ve been lucky enough to meet in the flesh, the rest of whom I will meet at BritMums 2014 – I have my ticket already!
My magic moment is more of a magic status – you are reading this post (who would have thought that anyone would read it in the first place!) on a self-hosted blog and I couldn’t be happier about that fact 🙂
Congratulations on going self hosted, I love having the control of my own blog. The only downside I’ve discovered is how difficult it can be to comment on some sites, but that is a really minor disadvantage.
Really, ok will have to see on that one. I’m definately finding it easier to comment on Blogger posts these days.
Yay on the self-hosted, it makes life SO much easier!
Next time we’re both at a do I will know you to say hello – are you going to Beanotown on Wednesday?
jo
Yes indeed! What’s Beanotown? Not been invited to that 🙁
well done, and I will be picking your brains too soon!! 🙂
Not sure I have any brains, but you’re welcome to ask 😀

Thank you Galina, I’m sure our paths will cross! I need to bring Monkey to Cogges at some point so will let you know when I sort a date out – could meet you there if you are free?
