Sticking, colouring and swinging

We’ve had a lovely day today, my Monkey and my eldest niece Miss D.  We’ve been sticking, colouring and swinging!!  We visited the museum where Miss D lives as they have been holding a number of family fun events during the summer.

We were a bit early, which gave Monkey the opportunity to play with the interactive displays.  The museum is right next to the canal so the displays all focus on the canals as a mode of transportation.

Then it was time to join in with today’s crafty Family Fun session – Jungle Adventure.  The session cost £2.00 per child and lasted for 2 hours.  The museum had made a jungle scene with a story corner and the children could choose to make two animals from a choice of a monkey, snake, parrot, lion, tiger and butterfly.  We obviously chose to make a Monkey!!! and a Tiger/Lion.  The idea being that the children take one finished animal home and if they are happy to, they leave one in the Jungle for everyone else to enjoy – I thought that was a lovely idea.

So we got down to the serious business of sticking, colouring, cutting and making our creatures.

Monkey decided he wanted to keep his Monkey – I do love the pink feather tail!  But he was happy to put his Tiger (looks more like a Lion) in the Jungle.  He decided the best part of the Jungle was Story Corner, so his Tiger now guards all the Jungle books!

Once we’d finished our session of Jungle Adventure we worked along the canal towpath so Monkey could admire the narrowboats and then headed to the park for a quick go on the swings (Monkey only ever really goes on the swings!).  Then it was time for a well-earned lunch.

After we’d filled our tummies we drove to Miss D’s house, parked the car and walked over to her park, yes, for another swing session.  This one lasted over an hour, with Miss D being instructed to push and Mummy being told to sit on the bench!

    1. It was a lovely day, it’s really nice that I still see my niece (my ex-family) and she gets on really well with Monkey too. Only seems 5 minutes ago I was pushing her on those very same swings and she’ll be 18 in April!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
