JUST ADD Squeezy Tubes – AD sent for review

disclosure:  we were sent the items mentioned for the purpose of review

As you know I’m always up for trying something new in the kitchen, I normally have fresh garlic on hand but I’m so rubbish with keeping fresh herbs.  I really need to make a herb garden for myself (note to self – get on with that idea!!).  Anyway, my total inability to keep and/or grow fresh herbs means that I do tend to rely on my large stock of dried herbs to compliment my culinary wonders.  I’m no Jamie Oliver, but I do try my best.  So when some JUST ADD Squeezy Tubes arrived on my doorstep I could see another option opening up before my eyes. I received JUST ADD Garlic, Basil, Chilli and Coriander.

Just Add Garlic, Basil ,Chilli and Coriander

With JUST ADD, there’s no fiddly chopping, you simply reach for the taste sensation you want and add it as you need it. What could be simpler? And because we believe good cooking comes with good ingredients, you’ll find all our ingredients have been hand-picked for their taste.

One teaspoon of the JUST ADD products is the same as adding a teaspoon of fresh to your recipes.  So which to try first?

Well, my son wanted his favourite Spaghetti Bolognese (the Bolognese is NOTHING like any of my Italian friends would recognise – but it’s what he likes) for dinner this evening. I could make use of the JUST ADD Garlic and Basil.

I chopped some onion and celery, added two teaspoons of the JUST ADD Garlic and sweated for a few minutes until the onion was soft.  I then added the mince and browned it off, added chopped red peppers and mushrooms, cooked for a few minutes, added one teaspoon of the JUST ADD Basil and stirred in and cooked for a few more minutes.  Then it was time to add a tin of chopped tomatoes and a dab of tomato puree.  I simmered the contents of the pan for 30 minutes and then served with whole-wheat spaghetti.

So what did we think?  My chief taster loved his dinner and didn’t notice anything different – that’s a good thing.  I could taste the garlic and basil as I would expect, the meal was flavoursome – got the thumbs up from me.

Once opened, you store the JUST ADD squeezy tubes in the fridge and use them up within 21 days of opening.  Don’t think they’ll last that long in this house!  Am sure I’ll be making use of the JUST ADD Coriander in a curry soon and haven’t had a good Chilli Con Carne in a while.

The JUST ADD website also features some rather tasty recipes – think I might try the Spicy Chicken Burgers with Red Pepper Salsa soon – yummy.
