Holiday madness

A week at Nursery School

I can’t believe that my little boy has spent a week at Nursery School already. He’d been at a different pre-school for a year, but doesn’t deal very well with change and is a bit of a cling-on, so I had no expectations of an easy transition. I was expecting tears, maybe not on day one, but definitely on day two when the realisation of it all sunk in.  I thought we’d be bound to have a few accidents, he does tend to leave going to the toilet to the last nano second.  My son has amazed me, we have had no tears at all, no toilet issues.  We’ve had a few nights of ‘Mummy I don’t feel very well’ but every morning he’s asked me how long it is until school opens.  We trot up the alleyway to school, chatting all the way and he’s been happy to go into his classroom.

Every morning I’ve wondered if today will be the day we have a wobble. But no, he takes me to his peg, we take his coat off and walk over to his group circle.  He sits down and gives me a kiss.  He’s happy.  This morning he turned to me and said ‘Go Home Mummy’!

So that told me!  He’s happy, he’s settled.  I won’t ruin the moment by talking about the mess that is his school uniform, I’ll leave that for another day!

I’m so proud of my little boy, a week at Nursery School and he doesn’t want me there, he doesn’t need to cling on to me, or anyone else for that matter.  The boy done good.

Linking this up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements this week as he continues to amaze me.

  1. Aww. Sounds like he has settled in nicely. Xavier went back to pre-school yesterday (he only does three half days but he is slightly younger than Monkey) – his first session in big boy pants so the toilet thing was worrying me too! No tears or accidents here either 🙂

    1. Oh bless him. I remember that too – this time last year! Fingers crossed that Xavier cracks it. We’re now experimenting with stand-up wee’s – that’s a whole different world of issues!!!

  2. He looks so grownup in his uniform! Very smart 🙂
What a lovely post. As mine starts reception tomorrow, every post like yours makes me feel so full of hope! Thanks!
