Today sees the launch of a brand new magazine aimed at children aged 2-5 years – DC Super Friends Magazine. The magazine shows the likes of Batman, Superman, Aquaman and Hawkman with graphics that are definately aimed at pre-schoolers more than the comic strip idea that I remember my brother reading when we were kids. Monkey will be 4 in December, and has just started to show an interest in magazines so this is perfect for him. I was interested to see what he would make of the advance copy we received.
Each screen has a double-sided Super Friend pull out, so you can choose to be Batman, Superman, Green Lantern or The Flash! There is a moveable dial and clickable switch. Monkey had Daddy P and I taking it in turns to communicate with him and his Superman alter-ego.
The magazine itself is really bright and the layout is perfect for pre-schoolers with a good mix of games, various activities, colouring opportunities and puzzles.
There is only one story which was slightly disappointing. But lots to keep your mini Super Friend amused.
Monkey loves Spot the Difference and this also gave us a chance to get to know the various Super Friends a bit better. Green Lantern has already become a firm favourite with Monkey because he has a Rocket Truck! What a surprise. I’m still a Batman girl through and through. As Monkey knows I have a bit of a Batman thing going on, I have been tasked with helping him to make the Batmobile and sorting out the Batmask for him.
The DC Super Friends Magazine is priced at £2.99 which seems really competitive and you can get a good discount by subscribing either by the form in the magazine itself or on Titan Magazines website. Top Tip: You can save up to 20% so worth investigating.
You can get issue 1 shown above in supermarkets and newsagents.
Issue 2 comes with a Pull Back and Go Helicopter – Monkey has already placed his order!
