disclosure: we were sent the item mentioned for the purpose of the review and giveaway.
We’re frantically trying to grow pumpkins in the garden but without much success. Have you ever heard of a square pumpkin? No? Well, neither had I. Until we received a new DVD title being released on 30th September by Abbey Home Media – Spookley the Square Pumpkin.
Spookley the Square Pumpkin, is a charming story of a little square pumpkin, in a world of round pumpkins. Being different causes him a few problems. Not least of all with Big Tom and Little Tom – the pumpkin bullies of the patch.
The DVD runs for 45 minutes and is based on the story The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiano. It captivated my little boy, from the start and I’m sure that any other pre-schooler would enough this tale at any time, but especially on the run-up to Halloween!
Spookley would love to be Pick of the Patch, but all the challenges favour round pumpkins (strangely enough!). He tries so hard, encouraged by Jack Scarecrow and his sidekicks – the bats Boris and Bella. My son really like the bats the best – they made him giggle.
There is a big storm at Holiday Hill Farm and Spookley gets his chance to show what he is made of – can he save the day, and show that being different can be a good thing?
There is a lovely message to this story, and the songs that go with it are rather catchy – especially The Transylvania Twist!
We give this DVD a big thumbs up and you too could own a copy of Spookley the Square Pumpkin on DVD as Abbey Home Media have kindly offered 5 of my readers the opportunity to win a copy!
