Poppy Cat at SEA LIFE

Poppy Cat at SEA LIFE – AD invited to review

disclosure:  we were given tickets to this event for the purpose of review

Poppy Cat has been having Underwater Adventures at SEA LIFE in Birmingham for the last few weeks, and my son is a big fan of her television programme. So we set off on Sunday to meet her on her last day there, with one very excited Monkey – Poppy Cat at SEA LIFE.

Poppy Cat

We’re big fans of SEA LIFE too, we visited SEA LIFE in London earlier this year and spent my son’s 3rd birthday at the Birmingham centre last December (before this blog was born!).

We arrived on a lovely sunny day and he couldn’t wait to get inside.

We set off on our adventure around SEA LIFE with our Fact Finder Trail challenge and also in search of Poppy Cat!

We nearly met Poppy Cat

The Fact Finder Trail is a great way of getting kids to explore and question what they are actually seeing.  Although he can’t read yet, he enjoyed lifting flaps, spinning wheels and spotting the Quiz Trail question posts (not always so easy to spot!).

We had great fun walking around the aquariums – spotting sharks and stingrays and seeing all the brightly coloured fish.  As no flash photography is allowed in SEA LIFE, for the protection of the animals, not all my photos came out so well.  But here is a taster of what you can see if you visit.

Every so often we’d come across Poppy Cat – giving us ideas for undersea fun! It gave us lots of opportunities to have some fun whilst thinking about what we were seeing at SEA LIFE.  You could also watch some Poppy Cat episodes on the TV, a great little pit stop for my little boy.

Poppy Cat was making appearances throughout the day in the children’s soft play area, which is at the very end of the SEA LIFE trail.  Unfortunately, we just didn’t get our timings right!  We arrived at SEA LIFE just after 11 am so didn’t get to the other side of SEA LIFE until after 12, then we popped out for lunch at Pizza Express in Brindley Place (great to have lots of eateries right on the doorstep).  One thing I love about SEA LIFE, get your wrist stamped and you can keep coming back during the day.  We very nearly got to see the end of the 3.30 pm appearance but my son was in dire need of the toilet, so we rushed past Poppy Cat and dived into the toilets.  When we came out she was gone 🙁

He was already getting tired and I just knew he’d never last till 4.30 pm so it was a case of ‘we nearly got to meet Poppy Cat at SEA LIFE, nearly, but not quite!

We had a wonderful day at SEA LIFE, it’s a firm family favourite.  We drove home and I’d recorded Poppy Cat on Nick Jr for us all to watch and reminisce about our great day out.

Don’t forget if you are in the area that SEA LIFE has just launched a new parent and toddler midweek ticket – one adult and a child under 5 pay just £12.00 to gain entry – a bargain.

  1. It looks great, still disappointed we missed out going there when we were nearby! Having a soft play at the end is a great idea

    1. I do love it there, great location too, parking practically on site, right by the canals so lots for kids to look at and lots of eateries as soon as you walk out the door – family heaven!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
