disclosure: we were sent this book for the purpose of review
Now something that will entertain my son, aged nearly 4 years and children who are starting to read themselves! I’ve featured some of the Orion Books Early Readers range of books before, and for Day 11 of our 12 Days of Christmas Books, I bring you Horrid Henry’s Christmas Play.
The Early Reader range from Orion Books is aimed at school children who are learning to read, so obviously older than my little boy. But, we read lots of different books together and he’s happily concentrated when I’ve read others in the series to him.
Now Horrid Henry’s Christmas Play is our first experience of Horrid Henry. This paperback book is written by Francesca Simon and illustrated by Tony Ross. There are 86 pages to this fun story that shows Horrid Henry not being too pleased with his small part as the Inn Keeper.
He wants to be so much more! How can he make his part bigger? How can he steal the show?
In Horrid Henry’s Christmas Play we watch as Henry battles with his teacher Miss Battle-Axe and annoys his classmates. Henry has a cunning plan, he will steal the show, he will have his own way! He forces Mary and Joseph into his Inn and then the fun really begins.
My son loved this story, I hope Horrid Henry isn’t going to be his hero, but he certainly found Horrid Henry’s Christmas Play funny. I’m sure this won’t be our last meeting with Henry over the years to come!
We have this book too – Ethan is really starting to enjoy Horrid Henry now!
