Sticky Fingers has set us a challenge this week – describe November in one photograph for The Gallery.
I’m picking this photograph for a number of reasons.
This photo was taken on Remembrance Sunday this year at the Cenotaph.
Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day has always been a part of my life. As a child, I was in parades, as an adult, I remember the family who fought in two world wars – some surviving, some not.
My Dad’s birthday is on 12th November and as a child, I always remembered seeing poppies everywhere we went around his birthday. It’s stuck. I see poppies for sale I think of Dad, I see poppies in a field, I think of Dad’s birthday to come in November.
Poppies to me, symbolise November, a time for remembering, a time for being grateful for what we have. We should have celebrated their 2nd birthday on Armistice Day, so poppies in November, always make me think of our missing link. Our poppy in the clouds.
Perfect photo to describe November
Thanks, I think so 🙂
