In the second of my Christmas ideas posts I’m back to books. I don’t apologise for this – I love them, and I think they are a basic necessity in any home. So today we have some Christmas stocking fillers from Random House. A wonderful Christmas themed picture book and a cute boxed set.
First in our Christmas stocking fillers from Random House is the Boxed set Roald Dahl – The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me. The set contains the story book and a soft toy giraffe. It retails for £12.99.
I’ve loved Roald Dahl books since I was a child, Monkey is a little young yet for these books, but give him a few years and we’ll be reading this and other classics I’m sure. This hardback book is illustrated by Quentin Blake.
This set would make a wonderful stocking filler for an older child, they can visit the magical world with our hero the giraffe with a magical long neck and his friend Pelly the pelican with a retractable beak and a very agile monkey!
Next up in our Christmas stocking fillers from Random House is a wonderfully atmospheric picture book. When It Snows by Richard Collingridge.
When It Snows is a 28 page picture book is a wonderful tale of a little boy and his teddy having the most amazing adventures in the snow. This struck a chord with my Monkey immediately as he takes his beloved teddy all over the place too.
It’s a really enchanting little tale, simple, short text and amazing illustrations bring this story to life. The world may have come to a halt because of the snow, but the little boy ventures to a land of snowmen to meet the Queen of the Poles. Monkey was spellbound with this story, and I have to be honest, there was no chance of me squirreling this book away for his stocking! It’s top of his bedtime reading pile.
Available for £6.99 we can recommend this as another idea for Christmas stocking fillers from Random House.
disclaimer: we were sent these items for the purpose of review, our comments however, remain our own honest opinions.
These look like lovely gifts, I think The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me is probably a good introduction to Roald Dahl.
It was actually a Roald Dahl book I hadn’t read, so was a nice surprise.
They look lovely – I especially like the giraffe 🙂
Both great books, the giraffe is very cute isn’t it
I love Roald Dahl too. We’ve got 6yo a box set for xmas
An all time classic in my opinion
