Birthday treat with Days out with Thomas

Birthday treat with Days out with Thomas

I’ve been a bit quiet on the personal blog posts this last few weeks.  I’ve taken a bit of a step back, to spend time with Monkey and just enjoy the moment, rather than recording it all for the blog.  It was beginning to feel like work, rather than fun.  Monkey turned 4 this Tuesday and as Daddy P works a lot we always make Sunday’s all about fun.  Last Sunday was a birthday treat with Days out with Thomas at Didcot Railway Centre.

We’ve been to Didcot before, earlier this year, and Monkey loved it so I was really glad to find that Thomas would be visiting in time for Monkey’s birthday.  I booked out slot online a couple of weeks ago, the tickets arrived and off we set last Sunday for our birthday treat with Days out with Thomas.

Monkey was so excited, steam trains are probably his favourite thing ever along with tractors!  Add in the Thomas element and I knew we were in for a good day.  The weather was brilliant too.  It felt like Spring rather than early December, which helped when we were looking at all of the outside exhibits.

Even when we were queueing up I don’t think Monkey believed who he was about to see and then suddenly Thomas approached.  The best birthday treat with Days out with Thomas was upon us!

We didn’t realise but we got to meet Father Christmas as well with our ticket.  We had a ride on Thomas, stopped at the station and then queued up in a carriage to meet Father Christmas.  One of his helpers heard that it was nearly Monkey’s birthday and the whole carriage sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him – it was lovely.  We had our visit, Monkey hid behind me, but he was very impressed with his present, even if it wasn’t a train!

We then headed back on Thomas again! Before walking around the centre to take a ride on Duck.

There was a lady making balloon figures – we had to have a Thomas didn’t we!  Monkey spent the rest of the day waving his Thomas balloon proudly in the air.

  1. What a wonderful birthday treat for Monkey, I think he’s smiling in nearly every photo. How nice that he had the added treat of meeting Father Christmas too and being sung to by everyone. Thanks for linking up and sharing Monkey’s birthday treat with Country Kids.

  2. That looks absolutely brilliant – the photos are fab, so happy and smiley 🙂 Monkey clearly had the best time! #CountryKids

  3. Bless him, he looks so happy! We visited Didcot centre years ago with our older son, but haven’t taken our little man there yet, I know he would love it.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
