Thomas & Friends Amazing ABC

Thomas & Friends Amazing ABC – a book review

I think it’s fairly clear that Monkey is a big fan of Thomas & Friends, especially as he’s birthday treat was a Days Out with Thomas event!  Monkey has just turned 4 and really needs help with learning his letters, he gets easily distracted and isn’t that bothered about learning his alphabet.  Hopefully I now have a trick up my sleeve with Thomas & Friends Amazing ABC.

Thomas & Friends Amazing ABC, Thomas Friends Amazing ABCThomas & Friends Amazing ABC is a 24 page large hardback book, published last summer by Egmont UK Ltd.  It’s really interactive with lift the flap pages, an old-fashioned telephone that you can hold and dial, Tidmouth Shed doors that open and so on.

It certainly grabbed Monkey’s attention – phew!

It was an instant hit.  It’s the kind of book that you might want to keep away from younger children so pages don’t get ripped.  Monkey is old enough now, to work through this sort of book gently!

Thomas & Friends Amazing ABC is aimed at children of 3 years and over, and any fan of Thomas is going to love it.  We’ve spent time naming all of the engines, guessing who could be ringing the Fat Controller and looking at the map of the island of Sodor.  There are lots of educational possibilities with this book.  The fact that there are some of the less well known characters included in this book is great.  Monkey was so excited when we got to O is for Owen as one of his best friends is called Owen too.

Thomas & Friends Amazing ABC has really engaged Monkey, and I can thoroughly recommend it.

  1. This looks such a fabulous book Mary – Monkey’s looking quite engrossed there! We must look at these kind of books for POD, she’d love it I’m sure 🙂

  2. That looks like a fab book. Have you checked out the alphablocks games on the BBC website. We’re finding them great for learning letters and reading.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
