Monkey hasn’t really been a fan of wheels, he has shown no interest in having a bike, and rarely used his My 1st Scooter. Then he moved to Nursery School and something pricked his interest. Wanting to be one of the boys maybe? We dusted off his scooter, but oh dear, his big feet were too big for the scooter. Just as well his birthday was coming up. I wanted to get him scooting, feeling like he was fitting in.
After some recommendations, we went for the Mini Micro Scooter and I hid it in the garage until his birthday.
Oh Mum! Scooter! Well with one thing and another we never got to spend much time on it before Christmas. But come the new term Monkey was ready, ready for scooting to Nursery School. He was off, he got the hang of his new scooter straight away, he loved it right from the start. Finally, we’d got Monkey some wheels and he was enjoying himself.
We scoot to Nursery School pretty much every morning, and I take it back at lunchtime for the return trip, Monkey scooting home, zooming along the footpath. Mummy, I’m going really fast, aren’t I?
My little cling-on, who always likes to be stuck to my side, is finding a bit of independence. He’s letting go, happy to be scooting ahead of Mum, happy to scoot off and then wait for me to catch up. You may be thinking, well Monkey is 4 years old – this is normal! Not here, not with my Monkey. This is an immense step forward. It’s a wonder to behold, I love watching him scoot off, one happy little boy.
We live in a cul-de-sac when Monkey scoots up to our house, he hasn’t finished his trip. He scoots off to the end of the cul-de-sac, turns around, and scoots back, then does a loop around the shared drive with our neighbours and he’s home. I love it. I love the look on his face, the freedom he’s enjoying.
Apparently, he even told Daddy P he might like to look at a bike!!! Huge news! We’ve had the money put aside for 18 months for that bike. But this is one small step, we’ll be happy with that for now. One amazing achievement.
Looks like he’s having so much fun! Boo has a scooter that she loves, and a bike, but we rarely think to get them to take us out with us – you’ve reminded me, thanks!
He is loving it and I’m so pleased we’ve found him wheels which he loves
Aww that’s great that he enjoys his scooter so much!
Bless him, he has changed so much this last month
Ahhhh how lovely! 🙂 x
Thanks – its lovely watching him go
Well done Monkey! Scooters are great aren’t they. Once Ethan started school and seeing all of the other children on them he has ridden his nearly every day!
It’s funny as he just wasn’t bothered before at all
6yo was the same, never an interest in wheels. Thankfully now she loves riding her bike and it’s one of her favourite things to do. Fingers crossed Monkey’s confidence increases each time and you get the bike soon.
I can’t believe he has mentioned wanting a bike – I’ll be more excited than him about that I think
Looks like he’s really loving his scooter! I’m sure my son will be the same at four years old – he doesn’t like to leave my side.
It’s wonderful to see his independent side come out, there will be no stopping him now.
I love this, my little one has had a scooter for a while now and is just getting into it now. He loves to dash around the house on it but can often be found using it to sit and watch TV! He has the same kind of scooter and it’s lovely. #SSAmazingAchievements
It’s a really good scooter isn’t it. He adores it.
Aw, looks like Monkey is loving his new scooter. Miss M is scooter and bike mad but Mister B has no interest whatsoever! We’re hoping he’ll show some interest this summer as he has both a bike and a scooter that he doesn’t use but it’s a great way to get them out in the fresh air!
All of a sudden it’s just clicked with Monkey
These scooters seem so sturdy and safe, no wonder he feels confident on it and takes off! #PoCoLo
They are great, can thoroughly recommend.
That is an amazing achievement without a doubt! Well done monkey! It is so wonderful (and terrifying) when they start showing those little signs of independence. A part of me always wants to stop it and another, to let them grow…
I agree, a part of me is so happy that he’s finally starting to find himself, but a part of me is also rather sad about it all.
i love that extra bit of scooting he does when you get home – that’s so sweet! xxx
It makes me chickle every day
This is fantastic news, he really is starting to find his feet. I love how quickly he learnt how to use it. It also must be so nice to not be stuck together, and a little bit sad.
Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0)

Yes, today it was rather terrifying when he scooted off and wouldn’t stop. I was running trying to reach him before the road – that was not pleasant!
Bless him. What a GREAT scooter. Grace used to ride hers to school all the time and loved it 🙂 It is a great form of exercise too. Thank you for linking to PoCoLo x
