Keeping our house warm

Keeping our house warm Keeping our house warm

There’s nothing worse than being away from home at this time of year, you hear that the weather has taken a change for the worse, and you know you’ll be coming home to a freezing home.  Before I had a family, I often took my main holiday over Christmas and New Year.  I’d return to the UK from somewhere tropical to minus 5 degrees, the heating wouldn’t be on.  It was still set on our normal timings.  Chilly! well times have changed and should the need arise while we are away this time, Hive could be keeping our house warm.

Hive is an offspring of the British Gas team and have set up an exciting new product which lets you monitor, alter and control your heating and hot water all through the touch of a button on your smartphone or browser!  You can adjust your schedules and temperatures away from home with the option for alerts to be sent to your mobile if temperatures reach a certain level.

This video explains more about Hive and what it can do for you.

I love the idea that while I’m drinking a cafe con leche in a hopefully sunny part of Spain this week, if it’s sub-zero at home, Hive could be keeping our house warm.  No need to worry about frozen or burst pipes, no need to arrive home in the early hours to a freezing cold home.  Anything that takes a little stress out of my life is a good thing!

  1. I hope your hose is warm when you get back and that you bring some sunshine back with you. I would love to be able to warm my house up with an app on my phone would be very useful!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
