Going back to the Palace

Going back to the Palace

As regular readers will know, we live fairly close to Blenheim Palace, and it’s been a regular haunt since Monkey was born.  The Saturday before last saw us going back to the Palace with one of our NCT families.  The sun was out (in the most part), the rain stayed away, and we had a lovely afternoon.

We managed to miss the train twice, but Monkey was quite happy just watching it go past, waving to the passengers and saying hello.

We bumped into one of my old housemates and her two children too.  It was a lovely afternoon, the children played so well together.  Monkey and his friend O have similar temperaments which has caused conflict in the past.  But going back to the Palace on this day was a pleasure.  The boys just really enjoyed each others company.  O’s younger brother watched on as they played in the sandpit.  They made tunnels and mountains.  They were just two 4 year old boys having a great time.

Going back to the PalaceAfter all the digging we decided to explore the grounds, hoping that little E might have a nap – no chance!

The boys and I played hide and seek from O’s Mummy.  We were all in fits of laughter, especially when I tried to hide behind a little tree.  Our beloved Butterfly House has been pretty much demolished.  It is going to be restored and opens again in April.  Something to look forward to.

We treated ourselves to a warm drink and Monkey wanted a chocolate ice cream.  It was a lovely way to round off a great week.

We admired all the trees and look forward to seeing them covered in leaves in a few months time.

Going back to the Palace is always a wonderful experience, we have so many memories of happy play dates there, so many picnics shared.  It really is our favourite place to visit.

  5. My annual pass’s run out now, so really should renew it although it’s a 40 min journey each way for us. It’s definitely a great day out, with lots of events going on for the children.

We ended up gardening this time, but a quick visit is long overdue for us now.
