Lost & Found

Lost & Found – a book review

disclosure: we were sent this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’m an animal lover through and through.  I’m a sucker for a cute little animal face, especially a cat or kitten.  You all know how much I love our cat Brewster, and his predecessors, Monty and Roxy.  I like dogs, we had a couple of dogs growing up, I just prefer cats.  Our first dog was a beautiful collie cross, predominately white with a black patch over one eye.  We loved that dog, even with all the moulting fur!  She came from a local rescue centre, she was extremely nervous and never did like being left alone.  When I was offered the chance to read Lost & Found, I had to say, yes, please.

Lost & Found

Lost & Found tells the stories of 12 animals who were very lucky to be rehomed to new families through the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. There’s no need to get your hankies out, these are happy tales of animals who’ve been given a second chance of a loved life.  Animals need to be rehomed for all sorts of reasons, not just neglect and abuse.

I’m sure that everyone has heard of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, it celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2010.  I have to be honest though and say I hadn’t realised that they’d added the ‘and Cats’ to their name or that they rehomed cats too.  Always nice to learn something new.  All royalties from the sale of Lost & Found go straight to the charity, who have been responsible for rehoming over 3.1 million dogs and cats since they first opened their doors.

I have enjoyed reading the various stories, told by each pet’s new owner.  Harper, the Lurcher became Ben’s best friend and helped him as he fought to overcome a serious illness.  I think my favourite story was about Bryn, the Collie who helped his owner and her husband become involved in Search and Rescue.  A dog who has now been trained to be a Search and Rescue Dog himself.  I’ve never thought of rehomed animals being trained for this sort of thing.  It was a fascinating read, of the training that both handler and dog have to complete.

Any animal lover is going to enjoy reading this book, even more so, when you know the royalties are going somewhere so worthwhile.

  1. I’m really glad you said they were happy tails – I know a lot of the things Battersea deal with are probably not that happy x

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
