As anyone who’s been in my kitchen will tell you, I do love herbs and spices from Schwartz! My spice rack is crammed with them. When I was asked to try some new Schwartz Perfect Shake and Flavour Shots I was rather happy.
You may remember that I’ve tried some of the Perfect Shake range before, so I knew the new Perfect Shake Pasta, Spanish and Chips would be great additions to the range.
I shall be using the Perfect Shake Spanish soon, to remind us of our time with Granny and Gramps! It’s a blend of smoked paprika, red and green peppers which I’ll be adding to my chicken and chorizo stew over the holidays.
I’m going to try to convince Monkey to eat potatoes – home-made wedges sprinkled with Perfect Shake Chips! Let’s hope the blend of paprika, onion and garlic might just do the trick.
I’ve already used the Perfect Shake Pasta a couple of times. With its blend of tomato, oregano and basil, I’ve added it to various meals recently. A really tasty addition to any tomato based meal.
Next up to try were the Flavour Shots. I have to say that these are totally new for me. I’d been sent the newest Flavour Shots – Spanish Paella, Italian Creamy Herb Tagliatelle and Indian Spicy Jalfrezi Curry. I was intrigued. The pots contain herbs, spices and seasoning infused in sunflower oil. Each one use 52g pot comes with a recipe suggestion – always handy, and mine all have a shelf life well in to next year. All of the flavours come with no hydrogenated fat, artificial colouring, added preservatives or MSG!
I decided that we deserved a good curry, so time to try the Indian Spicy Jalfrezi Curry. When you open up your Flavour Shot, you do need to stir the mixture up, use the wrong end of a teaspoon. Then I just followed the recipe instructions and in just about 30 minutes our dinner was ready.
The end result was rather good. Spicy, but not too hot that a 4 year Monkey wouldn’t eat it. I was impressed and am looking forward to making Paella and having Pasta soon!
Schwartz Perfect Shake and Flavour Shots are available in all major supermarkets and are all priced under £2.00.
disclaimer: we were sent the items mentioned in exchange for any honest review
Looks like a yummy dinner, we enjoyed our curry too
They are really handy aren’t they. I haven’t tried the curry one yet as I thought it might be too spicy for the Little A’s. Will have to give it a try!
It was fine for us, but we do eat a lot of spicy food
That looks yummy. I’ve always got a pot or two of this in my cupboard, namely in cajun flavour
Might have to try the Cajun one – they are a fab idea aren’t they
Your Monkey must have quite a good tolerance for heat, I found ours to be quite spicy! We really enjoyed it though.
He’s had spicy food for as long as I can remember, that was mild for us!
