A Very Special Family Party

A Very Special Family Party – book review

Having a vehicle mad 4 year old on my hands I’m always on the look out for something different to read to him.  When I heard about the release of A Very Special Family Party, I knew he’d love it.

A Very Special Family Party

A Very Special Family Party is written by Lindsay Reid, to celebrate the 60th birthday of Sir Brian Souter, co-founder and Chairman of Stagecoach Group.  Through the 16 page paperback book we get to meet a number of characters from the company’s various businesses; from  Mike the Megabus to Sally the South West Trains train.

A Very Special Family Party was an instant hit with Monkey, he loved the vehicles, and was excited to see Stanley the Supertram.  We’d seen trams in Sevilla and he’d been mesmerised at the time.  He loved the bright illustrations by Kate West which brings the story to life.

A Very Special Family Party

All of the vehicles have come together for A Very Special Family Party, Brian has a special birthday he wants to share with them all.  He introduces them to Hamish the Helicopter, the reception is a bit frosty.  Would the vehicles be replaced by the new arrival?  Why does Brian not want to travel by road or rail any more?

But then disaster strikes and it’s the old machines who come to Brian’s rescue and ensure that his birthday party goes with a bang.  Monkey’s certainly enjoyed this story.

Priced at £4.00 (£3.60 for Kindle version) on Amazon, with £1.50 from each sale going to the National Literacy Trust, any vehicle fan is going to like this book.  I can see that further books could be produced to follow the adventures of each machine.
