Digger Driving

I was struggling to think of something for this weeks #SSAmazingAchievements and then this happened this afternoon – digger driving!

We bought Monkey this JCB Digger with a trailer for Christmas 2012.  He loved it from the moment he saw it, we knew he would.  We also really hoped it would get him pedaling, digger driving.  But no, Monkey was having none of that.  Whenever we got his JCB out of the garage he would just sit on it and push.

Why don’t you pedal? No! I can’t!  I’ll help you. NO!!!!  This has been going on for nearly 18 months, on and off, weather permitting.  Now I understand that digger driving on the grass is harder to do than on a patio.  Whenever I’ve suggested going down the road or on our patio – no Mummy!

Until today, finally.  As you can see in this video, we have a minute patio, but it was a start, Monkey was digger driving.  Now to get him doing the same with his bike!!!

About Over 40 and a Mum to One

I'm a Mum with an 8 year old son. I had a busy life in Export Sales before my Monkey came along, but decided to become a stay at home Mum once he arrived. Now I enjoy writing my own family lifestyle and travel blog. sharing the adventures that we have as Monkey makes his journey through school. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing days out, toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.

  1. Awwww well done Monkey! Potato was like that with his scooter. Just wanted to push it around everywhere or stand on it with both feet and be pushed by a grown up. Once he realised how it was supposed to work though, there was no stopping him!

  2. Well done Monkey. Doesn’t it just prove they do things when they are ready no matter how hard we try. That or they always prove us wrong, this normally happens to me in appointments! So glad he is finally using it to it’s full potential. I wonder where Monkey and his digger will go!

Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0)
