Dinosaur roar!

Dinosaur Roar! – book review and giveaway

Dinosaur Roar!
Since Nursery School had a dinosaur theme a while back, Monkey has been obsessed with them.  You’ve all seen the evidence when a stick becomes a dinosaur bone!  So when I heard that Dinosaur Roar! was celebrating its 20th birthday, I knew we had to have a look at it. We received a paperback 20th Anniversary edition of Dinosaur Roar! It had been published along with a hardback version in  association with the Natural History Museum. Written and illustrated by  Paul and Henrietta Stickland, this book is a must for any dinosaur fan.  We’ve recently borrowed Ten Terrible Dinosaurs from the Library, and Monkey recognised the similar illustrations immediately. Dinosaur Roar! Stegosaurus Mummy!  Roar! Yes, he was off.  Dinosaur Roar! is beautifully illustrated, as you would expect from Stickland.  The rhyming text is simple and effective and is a fun way to introduce younger children to opposites. Dinosaur roar! We’ve read Dinosaur Roar! over and over again since it arrived.  Monkey giggles his way through it every time, especially when he reaches ‘Dinosaur fat’ – Daddy, he has a big tummy just like you!!  You can imagine how much Daddy P appreciated that remark. Dinosaur Roar! If you have an iPhone or iPad there is also a Dinosaur Roar! app you can download which looks like lots of fun.  I have a feeling that we might be buying this soon, it’s only £1.99 and I’m sure Monkey will love it.  There is also a Dinosaur Roar! competition on Facebook for any dinosaur fan to record and share their own Dinosaur Roar.  Monkey has emailed in his entry, but you can also share on Facebook or Twitter. We love this book, I’m sure Dinosaur Roar! will be celebrating many more birthdays in the years ahead. disclaimer:  we were sent this book in exchange for an honest review.

  1. I love the diplodocus, simply because I love the sound of it’s name – it sounds almost dippy and jumbly rather than fierce like a ‘real’ dinosaur!

  2. I like the brontosauraus, I think its face can look quite cute and it is not as scary as the others

  3. T Rex cause it definitely sums up the meaning of thunder lizard rather well., it’s ferocious & terrifying

  4. My Favourite is the Stegosaurus (may have spelt that wrongly sorry) – Ferocious but cute with it!!!! 🙂

  5. Diplodocus because of its long neck and tail (used to remind me of a boomerang when I was little!) and the fact it was a plant eater!

  6. I love the Diplodocus, when I was at primary school, many, many years ago, I always loved it, but I can’t remember why, I just have a fondness for it still!

  7. Has to be the T-Rex, it’s my sons favourite too. We love that they are big and fierce, and we find their short arms very funny 🙂 x

  8. My favourite dinosaur is the Diplodocus because it looks friendly and has an impossible name to say.

  9. T-Rex because i find them fascinating although it’s the dinosaur i would least like to be chased by lol 🙂

  10. My favourite is the Triceratops because it’s my little boys favourite and I love the way he can’t pronounce it!

  11. T-rex as its my sons favourite dinosaur as he loves how big and roar-some they are

  12. T-Rex. I’m not sure why – perhaps it is because it is the most familiar, as I spend too much time watching kids tv such as Toy Story and Peppa Pig!

  13. I love Tyrannosaurus Rex because he is so big and commanding and looks as if he ruled the world in his day!

  14. Barney .. cause he’s big, purple and sings – everything you could want in a dinosaur

  15. I love the diplodocus because they are so huge and between their head and the end of their tail they seem to go on and on and on!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
