Marshmallows for Martians

Marshmallows for Martians – a book review

You may remember that some months back we reviewed the brilliant picture book Spaghetti with the Yeti. It’s been one of those books that we’ve read over and over again. So, when we were asked if we’d like to review the latest book from Adam and Charlotte Gullain, we weren’t going to say no!  Having made Roaring Rocky Road with a whole heap of marshmallows recently, we just love the title – Marshmallows for Martians.

Marshmallows for Martians

In Marshmallows for Martians, we meet up with George again.  Rather than heading off in search of a Yeti with a tin a spaghetti, this time our intrepid explorer is off into space.  He builds a brilliant rocket (Monkey’s thoughts) and sets off with an array of sweets.  His mission to find out which sweets Martians like the best.

Like most boys Monkey loves rockets and although he doesn’t quite grasp the whole idea of space; he loved this book.  He has his very own Martian, Mummy what sweets would my Martian eat?

When George arrives on Mars, he soon discovers that the place is rather noisy.  Aliens from far and wide have decided to party on Mars.

As he discovers each group of aliens, none of whom are Martians, he has to appease them with sweets so that they don’t eat him!  He has a number of lucky escapes before finally chancing upon some rather glum Martians.

I won’t ruin the ending, but the marshmallows help save the day.  Another lovely book, with great illustrations again from Lee Wildish.  It’s a soaring hit here, priced at £6.99 and is being published on 5th June.  We are already eagerly awaiting George’s next adventure Doughnuts for a Dragon later this year!

disclaimer:  we were sent this book in exchange for an honest review
