Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game

Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game – a review and £40 giveaway

Vilac Wooden Skittle & Ring Toss Game I discovered Lovably Me through Tami at Mummy of Two when she ran a review and giveaway which I won.  I’ve ordered a few items with some forward planning for Monkey’s birthday in December! I was really pleased when Loveably Me asked me if I’d like to review something else from their great range of products.  They supply all sorts of things from bedding, outdoor clothing, through to games and toys.  I decided, that with a bit of sunshine around, the Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game would be a good idea. Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game You all know that I love wooden toys and games, so I was excited to open the box and see the contents.  The Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game are made from natural wood from sustainably managed forests, and non-toxic laquers have been used.  No nasties here.  I also liked the internal packaging, no plastic in sight. Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game I love the fact that the Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game is two games in one; anything that extends play potential is a winner in my eyes.  The set consists of 6 wooden skittles with different colours bands, 6 matching wooden star base, 3 weighted rope rings and 2 coloured balls.  Both games are great for improving hand eye coordination, colour recognition and counting skills.  Aimed at children aged 3 years and over it’s a perfect set for a 4 and half year old Monkey. Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game With the Ring Toss game you fit the skittle onto the star base and line the skittles up in a number of different ways depending on the required difficulty wanted.  The instructions that come with the game suggest 4 different layouts; I’m sure Monkey will come up with lots more! Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game Each player gets to throw each of the 3 rope rings, if the player manages to loop the skittles, you add up the points on the skittles.  We’ve just been playing one round games, but you can set your own limit on the number of rounds played. We need to work on our spacing between the skittles and the distance away from the skittles to throw the rings. Hopefully we’re going to have a long hot summer to practice! To play skittles you remove the star bases and set the skittles up in the standard triangle shape, and take turns to knock over as many skittles as possible with the two balls. Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game We’ve found skittles a little trickier to play.  Our lawn is most certainly not particularly flat, so the skittles take some placing to get them to stay upright, even though they are quite weighty.  I’m a little reluctant to play skittles on our tiny patio as it’s right next to our patio doors.  Monkey, wooden balls and glass = a rather nervous mother!  This is work in progress.

Monkey is currently practicing at Nursery School for his Sports Day.  I only know this as little snippets come out from time to time.  One such moment, happened as we were playing with the Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game.  All of a sudden Monkey picked up one of the rope rings and put it on his head.  Another game was born. The Vilac Wooden Skittle and Ring Toss Game is well made, and will last us years. Games that just don’t go out of fashion, we’re really pleased with the set.  It’s available from Lovably Me for £35.00, which I think is a fair price as you are getting two games (or three if you include Monkey’s!) disclaimer:  we were sent this item in exchange for an honest review
