Fun at The O2

I can remember when The O2 was called the Millennium Dome.  I visited the exhibition with a group of friends in May 2000.  We cruised along the Thames and admired this wonderful building from the riverside.  Sadly the exhibition didn’t hold us in awe in quite the same way as the building itself.  I love architecture, both modern and old, buildings just fascinate me.

The Millennium Dome was so recognisable as a structure, I was really pleased when it became The O2.  It was a few years before I visited the newly named building to have some fun at The O2 with two of my nieces in November 2007, when we visited the Tutankhamun Exhibition.  I was really impressed with the easy access via public transport and the variety of eateries.  We all had a wonderful experience.

Roll on another few years to March 2011 and I was back to The O2 again with a couple of friends for the X-Factor Live show.  Yes, I saw One Direction, front row, before they took over the world!

The O2 hosts all sorts of events from exhibitions, pop concerts to light entertainment shows like Ant & Dec’s Takeaway on Tour.  I’d personally love to do Up at The O2 and climb up to the top of it.  I’ve got a few friends who have done it, and it looks fab.  Need to build up the bravery levels first though!

Have you been to The O2?  What did you do there?  I’d love to hear your experiences.

  1. We’ve been to the O2 quite a few times. It’s a great venue, so easily accesible and I can’t wait to go back! x
