Putting All-Bran to the test

Putting All-Bran to the test #RealMumsAllBran

This post is an entry for the Real Mums of All-Bran Linky Challenge sponsored by Kelloggs with BritMums.  I’ve been putting All-Bran to the test on their 5 day challenge. Putting All Bran to the testI can remember eating Sultana Bran as a child, but I was never particularly keen on the standard All-Bran.  I was interested to see what these versions were like and to taking the 5 day challenge.

With a busy week full of Formula One action ahead of me, it was a great time to be putting All-Bran to the test and I started on my 5 day challenge. Apparently, eating fibre every day is good for our digestive systems and eases any feeling of bloatedness.

All fibres are important and have different effects on the body but natural wheat bran fibre is one of the most effective types of cereal fibre for improving digestive health.

I started on Day one with the All-Bran Red Berry Crunch, a mix of crunchy wheat bran, cereals and freeze-dried fruit.  This is just my sort of breakfast cereal and I really enjoyed it.  It was good preparation for some early mornings and long days at Silverstone.

Day 2 saw me trying the All-Bran Golden Crunch with multi-grain clusters. For me, this was just a bit too sweet.  It was ok, but not something I would prefer to have for breakfast.

I really am not keen on introducing anything with chocolate to the breakfast table; not something I would actually eat, or want to encourage Monkey to eat either.  But, with a chocoholic in the family, Daddy P was eager to try out the All-Bran Chocolate Wheats, and he carried out his own 5 day challenge with them.  They’ve certainly helped with his digestive system.  He works long, unsociable hours and eats very sporadically.  The Chocolate Wheat have gone down well with him.

So for days 3-5 it was back to the All-Bran Red Berry Crunch for me.  I really enjoyed this cereal, it was filling and tasty.  I can’t say it did anything specific for my digestion, but I have a fairly high fibre diet anyway.  It certainly helped me get through the early mornings so I could enjoy my time at the Grand Prix and testing days and I’d certainly buy this particular cereal again.

Apparently 90 to 95 per cent of the ‘happy’ hormone serotonin is made in the gut.  I did find this an interesting fact.  Having suffered from depression in the past, it’s nice to know that healthy choices could also boost my general well being.

disclaimer:  we were sent the items mentioned to enable us to take part in this challenge. My views are still my own, honest thoughts.
