You may remember that we reviewed a lovely picture book last July (doesn’t seem possible!) about Nanny Fox. Well today we are back to tell you about the second book in the series; Nanny Fox and the Three Little Pigs. The latest book was published through Orion Books in September and we love it!
We meet up again with Arnold Fox; unlike most foxes Arnold loves to look after chickens, rather than eating them. He’s been looking after the chicks of Mrs Buff Orpington for some time and we join the farmyard family at Christmas time.
In the box written by Georgie Adams we follow Nanny Fox and the chicks as their hand out various Christmas presents. They have 3 left to give to the Three Little Pigs. Then the fun begins and the illustrations from Selina George really bring the story to life.
The Three Little Pigs want Arnold and the chicks to play with them. Nanny Fox could be the Big Bad Wolf! All sorts of imaginary play fun keeps the friends amused.
Monkey loves the story of the Three Little Pigs and this really captured his imagination. Cue afternoons of pretending to be the Big Bad Wolf and lots of roaring!
Anyway, back to the story. Whilst the friends in the farmyard are having fun, Arnold’s naught family are concocting a plan. They want chicken for their Christmas dinner.
I won’t ruin the whole story for you, but let’s just say that Arnold and his Big Bad Wolf are the heroes of the day.
Nanny Fox and the Three Little Pigs is a great follow-up to Nanny Fox and we really like it. Another great book for a Christmas present or would be fab if you are taking part in an Advent of Books. My affiliate link for Amazon is shown below if you want to buy.
