Week 2 of PODcast‘s linky The Alphabet Photography Project and what to pick for B? I instantly thought Butterfly, and then realised I’m going to need to track what I did last year. Yep, that was last year’s B. Ok, back to the drawing board, Brewster maybe? Then I realised I didn’t write an actual post about Monkey’s birthday last month at all and had only scanned through the photos from the day at the time. So this year, my The Alphabet Photography Project B is for Birthday.
Monkey loves John Deere tractors and he has an obsession with their showroom in Osuna, near to where my parents live in Spain. We have to visit every time we go to Spain, he loves it, we have to get a sales brochure for their tractors or combines. It makes no odds to him that it’s all in Spanish. On one trip, he noticed a toy Bruder John Deere Combine Harvester in the showroom window. They sold toys for the kids as well as the real machines. He was fascinated and would have loved for us to have brought it home for him. Two problems – it was massive and it wasn’t cheap.
When we got back home I had a quick search on the internet and found the same Combine Harvester on Amazon. Still not cheap. Daddy P and I discussed it and agreed that if was still what he wanted before his 5th birthday (a year later) then that’s what we would get him. Earlier last year I won a rather nice Amazon voucher which would actually pay for said Combine Harvester. But I held out, it’s a big toy to buy if someone then decided his John Deere obsession had passed.
But Monkey knows what he likes, over the months if you asked him what he would like for his birthday, the answer was always the same. So in October I bought it, and then had to hide it – it is BIG! for 2 months. Would he really like it when he unwrapped it?
I think that expression says it all. Mummy!!!! It’s my Combine Harvester!!!! Job done, gold star for Mummy and Daddy. One happy birthday boy. Daddy P had Granny and Gramps on Skype so they could see it all happening too. He was over the moon. If he’d had no other presents from anyone, at that point, it really wouldn’t have mattered. He’d waited over a year and got the one thing he really, really wanted. What a birthday.
Just in case you’re wondering – this is what it looks like. It even comes with pellets so you can fill a trailer with your ‘crop’ to be taken away by tractor. Total luck that the Tractor and Trailer set he’s had for 2 years works brilliantly with it.
What would you pick for B?
What a fab pressie and his face really does say it all. My son has a similar tractor; best not let him see this one otherwise he’ll be wanting that one too! #alphabetphoto
lol – he has a tractor and trailer too – obsessed
Yes, his face really does say it all. Bless him.
You just know how much he’d love it
That face when he opened his gift is just priceless! That harvester is awesome. Happy birthday Monkey =)
I know, so thrilled I caught it on camera
The perfect B, and present. If my son is anything to go by, I’m guessing the Combine will be a favourite for a very long time. #AlphabetPhoto
I’m sure it will, I’m surprised he doesn’t take it to bed with him really!
His face really does say it all, fabulous photo x #alphabetphoto
I can still remember the reaction – it was fab, so pleased I got it on camera too
The look on his face is absolutely priceless and so worth it, isn’t it? 🙂 Belated Happy Birthday to your little man 🙂
Yes, it was just wonderful.
