Posie Pixie and the Snowstorm is the sixth book in the Whimsy Wood series of children’s books, and Monkey and I have been enjoying reading it at bedtime recently.
Posie Pixie and the Snowstorm is written by Sarah Hill, and each page is accompanied by lovely illustrations from Sarah Mauchline. Through the 40 page story book we meet up with Posie Pixie and her friends in Whimsy Wood, as the snow starts falling on a January morning.
This was our first introduction to the series and the book works well as a stand alone read. Monkey was quite intrigued when he found out that Posie lived in a kettle in the woods.
Posie and her friend Wibble the Woodlouse were planning to go for a walk in the woods with friends Sonny the Shrew and Violet the Vole. Cue lots of questions from Monkey – Mummy what’s a vole? What’s a shrew?
Posie is upset when their plans are ruined by a heavy snowstorm but she is about to learn that every cloud has a silver lining.
Posie Pixie and the Snowstorm is a charming tale with a lovely message behind it. There’s a lot of descriptive text so it’s a book that Monkey is going to get enjoyment out of for the next few years as he progresses on his learning to read journey. At the moment he’s happy for me to read the book to him.
