Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

Joining in with TheBoyAndMe and her linky Project 365. A Photo A Day, Every Day, For A Year!  Project 365 2015 Week 13-16 Days 81-108.  A bit of a mammoth post from me as I play catch up after the holidays.

Sunday 22nd March – Day 81

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

A morning of crafting, making an Easter Stetson (this was the before shot!) before Monkey went to a friend’s birthday party at the local leisure centre.  Another first for him as he went on a bouncy castle.

Monday 23rd March – Day 82

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

A busy day at school for Monkey and I tried out a new cook book for our dinner, which was a big success.  When Monkey got home he relived our recent trip to Dinosaur Roar and we had a dinosaur puppet party.

Tuesday 24th March – Day 83

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

A friend popped over for coffee, cake and a catch up and Monkey had swimming after school.  He had a really good session.

Wednesday 25th March – Day 84

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

This little visitor made me realise that it was about time I sorted the pond AKA our sandpit cover out!

Thursday 26th March – Day 85

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16 Thurs 26

One of those magical blogging days!  I dropped Monkey off at school and headed over to Upton House on the outskirts of Banbury.  The National Trust property was launching their new Banking to Victory themed rooms, which were opened by Mary Berry.  I got to hear Mary talk about her childhood memories of the war, before being shown around the various rooms.

Whilst I was having fun, Monkey was also enjoying himself at the Easter Parade at school and the key workers were keen to show me the photographic evidence that he did join in! Amazing.

Friday 27th March – Day 86

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

The last day of term and time for a spot of reading with Daddy P before school. Monkey’s teacher was leaving today to get married and move to Spain, so the class was having a party, with Spanish food.  I dropped Brewster off at the cattery – he was not impressed and then did the majority of the packing for our holiday.  I just couldn’t wait to pick Monkey up from school, two whole weeks with my little man!

Saturday 28th March – Day 87

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

Finally the day had arrived, we got up early and headed off to Cornwall.  The roads were kind to us, the weather not so, with thick fog as soon as we left the motorway.  Monkey coped really well with the journey and instantly felt at home.  Phew!  Mummy had made the right decision.  We arrived shortly before Redpeffer and her family, and once they arrived Monkey was really in seventh heaven.  The magic had begun.

Sunday 29th March – Day 88

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

Monkey enjoyed his first Coombe Mill feed run, and happily sat on the trailer without us. He continued to amaze me, his confidence soared and he went off with all the other children, without a backward glance.  My son?  Yes.  We then headed off to Padstow, a favourite haunt of mine from many years ago.  Cornish pasties for lunch, oh yes please! We then headed off to Port Isaac for a blustery walk along the cliff tops before heading back to the farm for Monkey’s first train ride of the holiday.

Monday 30th March – Day 89

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

After the morning feed run we headed to Lanhydrock for the day. We all fell in the love with the house and gardens, it’s certainly somewhere we would revisit.  Monkey had great fun trying out the typewriters, going back to school in the olden days and looking after the ‘strange hats’ Mummy!

Tuesday 31st March – Day 90

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

We went for a steam train trip with Iona and her family on the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and then the three of us headed on to Looe so Daddy P could relive his childhood holidays.  Monkey finally got on a beach – he was one happy boy, beach combing for shells and …. rocks!  We even got to see an Air Sea Rescue Helicopter and RNLI Lifeboats on an exercise.  The smile says it all.

Wednesday 1st April – Day 91

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

We persuaded Monkey to miss the feed run so we could get to the Eden Project bright and early.  We wanted to make the most of our day, and we’re lucky to receive a family press pass for the day.  We had a great time exploring the Rainforest Biome before meeting up with Iona and her family.  The children all really enjoyed the day.  Lots of space for them to run around, opportunities to learn and fun to be had.  Monkey decided to get his camera out – so watch out for another Monkey Moments post coming up in the weeks ahead.  A great day out.

Thursday 2nd April – Day 92

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

We may not have been having the best weather but nothing was going to stop us all enjoying a day out at the beach.  We all headed to Trevone and as soon as we pulled into the car park, I recognised it from years gone by.  I’d walked from there along the cliff paths to Polzeath – something to try on a future trip with Monkey.  Digging was the order of the day for Monkey and his Redpeffer buddies, whilst Daddy P tried to finally master his kite flying (almost!).  We certainly earned a hot lunch in the cafe, before going back to the beach for the rest of the afternoon.

Friday 3rd April – Day 93

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

Our last full day in Cornwall.  Monkey made the most of his last feed run with Daddy P whilst I got most of the packing done and out-of-the-way.  The kids played with the Dad’s whilst Iona and I, joined Fiona and a couple of other Mum’s for a coffee and chat.  The three of us then headed off for an extremely breezy walk on Polzeath beach – fair to say that the surf was definitely up! We ended the day with fish and chips from the fab chippy in Camelford. Noone wanted to go home in the morning.

Saturday 4th April – Day 94

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

Time to say goodbye to this lovely view from our cottage. Monkey said goodbye to Rocky the Goat who nearly came home with us.  We waved Redpeffer and family off, before heading off ourselves.  We made good time on the way home, Monkey slept for part of the journey, he’d had a busy, wonderful week. Then it was time to pick up Brewster, who was like a limpet for the rest of the evening – how dare you leave me Mummy!

Sunday 5th April – Day 95

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

We decided to have a quiet day at home so we could all chill out after our week away.  I helped the Easter Bunny hide eggs in the back garden for our annual egg hunt.  Monkey loved every minute and certainly didn’t need any help this year.  Then he helped Daddy P do some gardening whilst I prepared a roast dinner.  But something wonderful happened. Monkey asked Daddy P to get his bike out (it was gathering dust) and he pedaled for the first time!  That was it, he was off.  After dinner we walked with him as he cycled all over the estate on the cycle path.  It was rather emotional for this soppy mother.

Monday 6th April – Day 96

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

The sun came out and we met up with our NCT group for our annual Easter gathering at Blenheim Palace for their Easter Egg hunt.  Monkey was also looking forward to meeting Peter Rabbit as he loves the TV series and books.  The Egg hunt was very disappointing, but the weather was much appreciated.  Back home for more bike riding 🙂

Tuesday 7th April – Day 97

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

Daddy P went back to work and Monkey and I spent most of the day in the garden before we went off to Monkey’s swimming lesson.  He loved playing in his digging area in the garden with his JCB tractor and trailer.

Wednesday 8th April – Day 98

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

We met up with Tina from The Soup Dragon Says, and her son, at The Vyne in Hampshire for the day.  We explored the house and the boys had fun building dens and running around the grounds.  The weather was lovely and we’ll certainly revisit.

Thursday 9th April – Day 99

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

Iona and her son came down for the day and we headed over to Waddesdon Manor so the boys could experience Colourscape.  The boys did really well with the long queues and Monkey overcame his initial fears and was soon having lots of fun.

Friday 10th April – Day 100
Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

I can’t believe the holidays are drawing to a close.  We’ve had such a lovely time together. Monkey has been desperate to plant some seeds again this year, so off we went to the garden centre for lunch and a shopping trip.  Once home, we planted everything up and now the fun begins.

Saturday 11th April – Day 101

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

We drove down to Wiltshire to spend the day with Monkey’s godmum and her daughter. They live very close to Stonehenge so we popped over for lunch and for a look around the visitor centre and Monkey loved playing hide and seek in the round huts.  Then it was off for our first geo caching experience.  Didn’t go 100% to plan, but we really enjoyed it and I can see us trying another one again soon.

Sunday 12th April – Day 102

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

My birthday and I got woken up by Monkey singing to me.  He asked how many claps I needed, uuum 47 Monkey, uuum Mummy?  Could you be 6 instead?  I certainly can! After breakfast we headed to Kenilworth Castle, somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit.  We met up with the Redpeffer family and had a great day exploring the ruins.

Monday 13th April – Day 103

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

Back to school and a very quiet house.  Monkey’s new teacher started today so I was hoping that would all go ok.  If that wasn’t confusing enough for them, they will also have another teacher every Wednesday.  Only time will tell how Monkey will cope with it all.  A glorious sunny day meant Monkey was straight out in the garden for some serious digging after school.

Tuesday 14th April – Day 104
Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

This makes me happy!  While I was getting dressed Monkey picked up my guide-book from Kenilworth Castle and started flicking through the pages.  Asking lots of questions and retelling facts he’d learnt on our visit.  I really hope he grows to love castles as much as I do!  His swimming lesson went ok, more new starters which always unsettles Monkey.

Wednesday 15th April – Day 105

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

Monkey’s first day with a male teacher.  He really didn’t want to go to school, so this morning wasn’t pleasant.  He survived the day but came home in a very grumpy mood. Lots of shouting and refusing to chat to Granny and Gramps on Skype. He’d chilled a little before bedtime and set to work on his farm jigsaw and sticker book.

Thursday 16th April – Day 106

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

A nightmare day with our internet connection caused me to end up in tears.  So frustrating when you have a plan and it all goes out the window.  Monkey came home in a much better mood and set to work on a new craft project.

Friday 17th April – Day 107

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

We made it through the first week back at school and we’ve ended the week with smiles 🙂 In other news we might finally be getting to the bottom of our internet woes, maybe I will be able to video call with my parents soon without it freezing every 10 seconds.  Watch this space.

Saturday 18th April – Day 108

Project 365 2015 Week 13-16

Monkey and I have had a lovely day.  We needed to get some presents in town and my car is off the road for a few weeks.  Luckily it only takes about 15 minutes to walk into town and we chatted away on our walk.  After I’d bought some fabric and posted a parcel, we popped into the local toy shop.  Monkey fell in love with Rocky the goat when we were at Coombe Mill and wanted one of his own.  So we compromised on a Schleich version instead!  After a spot of lunch, we bought the presents and cards we needed and headed home.  I’m so lucky to have a walker – he really enjoys it, no moaning 🙂
