With our recent farm holiday and Monkey and Daddy P’s love of Land Rovers, you can imagine how well the Britains Big Farm Landrover, Trailer and Bales set went down with Monkey when it arrived the day before our trip to Cornwall.
There was no chance that the Land Rover, trailer and hay bales would not be joining us on our adventure! The set is aimed at children aged 3 years and over and is 1:16 scale.
The trailer comes with two different adaptors so you can use it with the Land Rover Defender supplied or with other vehicles – useful to know, especially when we have a wide selection of machinery and vehicles here!
The Britains Big Farm Land Rover, Trailer and Bales was going to be a big hit with Monkey.
The Land Rover Defender itself is made of sturdy plastic and comes with a removable canopy section, once removed you can see the boot section and spare tyre.
The tailgate can be opened and again, this mechanism is well made and won’t snap easily.
There is a moveable steering wheel which actually activates the front wheels – big hit here again, and can be reached either through the driver’s door window or through the open sunroof.
Another highlight of this vehicle has been the ‘magic buttons’ on the bonnet.
There are two grey buttons which once pressed will switch on the headlights and produce sounds – a beeping horn and revving engine. The set uses 3 x AAA Batteries which are included.
When we were on holiday Farmer Nick had to take a poorly sheep to the vet, this obviously had to be reenacted once we were home. I can now confirm that plastic animals will fit inside the boot space of the Landrover Defender with no problems.
As for the trailer – as I’ve mentioned, this hooks onto the Defender with one of the two rectangular hay bales supplied, or anything and everything Monkey chooses. We’ve seen train track, animals and another holiday reenactment – people going on a morning feed run!
The trailer has an adjustable jockey wheel and a moveable tailgate. It’s a great size for children to really go wild with their imagination and as I’ve already mentioned, it has already had multiple functions since it arrived.
The only gripe we have with this set is with the trailer tailgate, which comes off really easily and has caused some frustrations. Looking at it I’m just not sure why the joint coupling isn’t a bit larger, so the gate can move freely but remains attached at all times.
But that the only issue I can find. The only other thing that confused Monkey was why the hay bales were bright green. Mummy they aren’t the right colour, they should be hay colour. So says a 5 year old and who am I to argue!
Priced at £32.99 this set is already, and will continue to, provide hours of fun and entertainment. I know it’s going to last which makes it great value for money too.
It gets a big thumbs up from Monkey too!
disclosure: we were sent this set in exchange for an honest review
