  1. As we find all kinds of pottery all around here, I’m fascinated with the Roman take over of England. Vikings were monsters.

  2. The Tudors, especially during the reign of Henry VIII, you would never have known who was going to be beheaded next!

  3. The Tudors I enjoyed learning all about at when I was about 10 and have been interested ever since

  4. Probably Roman times, the history of changing religions & the technology they brought until the dark ages

  5. The Elizabethan Times, I think Elizabeth 1, had such a hard time in a man orientated world, but against it all she managed to rein for 45 years.

  6. “Roaring Twenties ” :- Dancing, partying etc. I would not want to live through and experience War. The 1920’s was post-war, maybe things were improving following a period of deprivation, fear etc. They were enjoying what they could, whilst they could. I would like to experience a joyful time where / when there is co – hesiveness, Caring, Sharing, Empathy etc.

  7. My favourite piece/era of history is Europe post 1848, in particular German Unification from 1870 as this period was the foundation of the modern day and was instrumental in all events since.

  8. The Plantagenet era and the Cousins’ War is fascinating stuff…and what really did happen to the two princes in the Tower?

  9. I like the Ancient Egyptians because they were so very clever and it’s interesting to read about those times.

  10. I’m fascinated by Ancient Egyptians, always have. As a 10-12 year old I made my parents to buy me every possible book they had in our local book shop. I believe I lived in ancient Egypt 🙂

  11. The Regency period. Everyone just seemed so much more polite and dignified in Jane Austen’s day.

  12. The 14th Century. I loved learning about the plague when I was at school, especially because I had a pet rat at the time 🙂 x

  13. Rainey – Tudor times. I love the fact that in the UK today, you still have tudor style architecture. It’s really beautiful!

  14. Well, history taught in schools these days goes back to when I was growing up, but I would go back a little bit further to the swinging sixties!

  15. i love the victorian era, it always seems so romantic to me lol probably wasnt though lol

  16. It’s got to be The Tudor period and the times running up to it (Wars of the Roses etc)…. can’t get enough of it all!

  17. Catherine Reynolds
My fave period is now with the best rights for women and the internet being available!

  18. I don’t have a favourite; I enjoy learning about the differences, similarities, positives and negatives of various periods.

  19. Mine doesn’t go back too far I love the sixties – the fashion, the music and so many advancements (Man to moon).

  20. Hard to narrow it down. From an architectural standpoint, I’d go with the Middle Ages. But I really like the American colonial period. It’s really interesting to see how the country develops.

  21. I always loved Tudor times, probably because life seemed so manic and colourful then – I know I have a very romanticised and sanitised view of the times 🙂

  22. Neolithic, as I love the idea of Man starting to farm and use the landscape becoming more static and creating the first monuments etc

  23. I love the Tudor period, I think because it was the first period I learned about at school which gave me a passion for history.

  24. I love the Georgian Era because of the graceful architecture, brillient literature and the fashion of that period.

  25. Ancient History, particularly the Neo-Assyrians – I have a degree in it!

I love learning about the first civilisations and when things, such as the alphabet, were invented

  26. I am fascinated by the World Wars but I am very relieved not to have lived through them 🙂

  27. As so many above, I love The Tudors – they’re fascinating & really shaped the country.

  28. Oh gosh there are so many eras to choose from and all so fascinating! The Normans I find so very interesting, as well as many others. If only we could time-travel back to those days!

  29. The Victorian times have always appealed to me. The clothes were wonderful and it was a time of lots of life changing inventions

  30. I don’t know if it counts but my favourite part of history is Ancient Egypt, it was amazing to learn about when I went to Egypt
