Mr Men in London

Mr Men in London

Last weekend I was in London for the annual BritMums blogging conference.  Monkey is used to me always being there , at home, ready to pamper to his every need.  As last week progressed I could sense the wobbles descending as it got closer to the day Mummy disappeared to the big city.  He didn’t want me to go, he didn’t want Daddy to pick him up from school, he didn’t want to spend some time with Auntie S, he most definitely wanted to come with me.  Nothing like a 5 year old to make you feel guilty is there!  How to rectify this situation?  I had the perfect idea and introduced Monkey to the fab new Mr Men in London book.  Look Monkey, I will see if I can spot any Mr Men when I’m away.

Mr Men in London

Mr Men in London was published through Egmont earlier this month and sees The Mr Men and Little Miss characters partnering with Transport for London for a special treat.

Monkey has visited London a few times with me now and was quickly able to recognise the sights as we read the Mr Men in London story.  It’s full of his favourite characters, getting in a pickle on a day trip to the capital.

Mr Men in London

We’ve navigated the London Underground together a number of times and Monkey loves the escalators.  He giggled his way through the book, loving the idea that the Mr Men and Little Miss characters were following in his footsteps.  It certainly helped to make Mummy going away, seem not so daunting and I think we’ll take it with us on our next excursion to the ‘big smoke’.

There are trips to the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace, rides on the Underground, London Buses and the River Cruises, it really is a fab little book for youngsters to enjoy.  I just hope Monkey doesn’t emulate Mr Bump and decide to fall in the fountains at Trafalgar Square on our next visit!

If you’re going to London over the next couple of months it’s worth noting that the London Transport Museum’s Summer Family Programme will feature Mr Men in London events including storytelling, creative workshops and a Mr Men Little Miss themed trail throughout the Museum.

Activities will run on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June, Monday 27th July to Sunday 2nd August, and Saturday 15th August to Sunday 23rd August.

We can thoroughly recommend the Museum so well worth a visit.

Priced at £2.99 Mr Men in London is a great addition to the collection in this house and gets a big thumbs up.  My Amazon Affiliate link is shown for your reference below.

  1. This book looks so cute! The children have never really been to London so this would be a great way of teaching them about it x

  2. Oh we had the same wobbles too mw Little Shires when I told them I was going to London! It looks like an interesting book and one that could help cement their knowledge of the Big Smoke
