Project 365 2015 Week 25-26

Project 365 2015 Week 25-26

I’ve been joining in with Project 365 since the start of 2014, and been inspired by The Boy and Me to make sure I take a Photo A Day, Every Day, For A Year!  Project 365 2015 Week 25-26 Days 165-178.

Sunday 14th June – Day 165

Project 365 2015 Week 25

We had a quiet morning at home recovering from another manic week.  Then popped over to Banbury for their District Show as Daddy P’s cousin had brought his Scout Climbing Wall over from Northants for the day.  It was time to introduce Monkey to Banbury Cakes. They were delicious, they used to be widely available in the town when I was growing up, but are quite rare to find these days.

Monday 15th June – Day 166

Project 365 2015 Week 25

Have you ever seen a cat as daft as Brewster?  Seriously thinks he is a baby!  I had lots of paperwork to catch up on whilst Monkey was at school.  Afterwards my eldest niece came over for the afternoon and we took Monkey for his first Nando’s experience.

I’d bought him a set of boxer shorts earlier in the day and who knew they could provide a 5 year old with so much entertainment – boys are a whole different game aren’t they!

We came home and he made a boat for a school project with Miss D and I.  Stickers, and a foam sail were the order of the day.  Hope it sails when he launches it at school on Friday!

Tuesday 16th June – Day 167

Project 365 2015 Week 25

Monkey has really got into stickers all of a sudden so it was time for some fun before school.  Whilst he was at school I got us tickets to see The Gruffalo in London as part of Kidsweek in August.  Really wanted to take him to see The Lion King, but it seemed impossible to get tickets for that one.

I’ve talked of Monkey’s reluctance to write before, getting him to write his name in Daddy P’s Fathers Day card was a mission.  Well, all of a sudden, he got our Phonics flashcards out and worked his way through a load of digraphs and started actually writing them in ‘a book’.  He was so pleased with himself.

Wednesday 17th June – Day 168

Project 365 2015 Week 25

I was back to my Jado Chi class after missing 3 weeks.  I remembered more than I thought I would so it went better than I’d hoped for.  Then back for a bit of pampering.  I’d got a beauty salon voucher and money I’d been given for my birthday.  I treated myself to a full manicure, hand massage and mask treatment.  It was wonderful and my hands have never had it so good.  Typically all of my nails had snapped by yesterday, but at lease they now look halfway decent for BritMums.

After school and it was time for some digging in the garden after a Skype session with Granny and Gramps.  Obviously it was too much to ask for him to change out of his school trousers before he started.  He was happily making mud soup for an hour before bedtime.

Thursday 18th June – Day 169

Project 365 2015 Week 25

Monkey had a good day at school and I cracked on with some work before sorting my packing for BritMums. I think I’m ready, but feel so disorganised at the moment, what will I forget?

Monkey didn’t cry at swimming so that was a step forward, he tried everything that was asked of him again.  Doesn’t want to put his face in the water (never had a problem before) but won’t wear the goggles that I bought him ages ok.  I can see a year of Stage 2 looming in front of us, but we’ll get there.

Going to miss this scene tomorrow evening, I do love checking in on him before bed each night.

Friday 19th June – Day 170

Project 365 2015 Week 25-26

BritMums Live here we come!  I’m sharing a room with Iona from Redpeffer and meeting up with old friends at the hotel.  Looking forward to catching up with old and new friends alike and learning lots.  Thanks to my sponsor Orchard Toys for making it all possible.

I got on the right train and found my roomie – phew!  Got to meet up with my oldest blogging buddies, meet the youngest – 3 and a half week old Red Rose Baby, he is adorable, and headed off to The Brewery.  Not quite sure why the hotel sent us along the only road with no eateries after Red Rose Mummy asked them for directions, but we found EAT, just not the same EAT as Mummy’s Little Stars!  Memories were being made already.

Saturday 20th June – Day 171

Project 365 2015 Week 25-26

A full day at BritMums Live.  I’m so lucky to have a really close group of blogging friends who have been with me from the start of my blogging journey. BritMums Live gives us the opportunity to get together, although we missed a few that couldn’t join us this year.  I went to some great sessions, learnt a lot, laughed and cried in equal measure, met up with other friends, made new ones and met a few bloggers who have inspired me with their wonderful photography and travelling adventures. We all cried ourselves through Jenny’s post, she did so well.  There just had to be sunflowers there to greet her when she came back to the table.

Sunday 21st June – Day 172

Project 365 2015 Week 25-26

We met up with everyone for breakfast and then, as Iona and I weren’t catching a train until 2pm, we went for a walk.  Being me, I had an A-Z print out for the hotel area, which included the Thames.  I always feel the need to see the Thames whenever I’m in London, so off we set. We walked up to the Gherkin, through the beautiful Leadenhall Market and along the Thames Path before skirting back around St Paul’s Cathedral towards the hotel. This building in the middle caught my attention on Friday, I just love it, even in this photo it doesn’t look real, does it.

Headed home and Monkey and Daddy P were out enjoying FlyWheel at Bicester Heritage Centre.  I received a text, can you take a photo of the Vulcan, its due to fly over at 4pm. Bang went the snooze on the sofa then!  Said Vulcan was late taking off so missed the event, but it didn’t seem to bother Monkey.  He’d had a lovely day.

Monday 22nd June – Day 173

Project 365 2015 Week 25-26

I was shattered but I wasn’t alone.  Monkey had a croaky voice when he got home yesterday, and he didn’t even stir until 7.45am and then literally went straight back to sleep.  He clearly wasn’t right, so I decided to keep him home.  He woke up at 10am and we had lots of cuddles.  We curled up on the sofa and watched the Austrian Grand Prix, no Mummy the Ferrari has crashed!  Bless him, he’s still not happy that Alonso has left the team, but its lovely to watch F1 together.

I was certainly in need of a glass of wine, thank you Lindemans Wine for this treat in my BritMums Live goody bag.  I even tried a bit of photo styling after one of the sessions with Katy Orme.  Clearly my colour triangle has only 2 matches, it’s work in progress.  Photo styling and me and going to take some working out – I’m so messy!

Tuesday 23rd June – Day 174

Project 365 2015 Week 25-26

Monkey was back to his normal self, so packed him off to school. I did no work at all yesterday so had a mountain to catch up from the weekend.  Was typing away and got up to make a cuppa and spotted Brewster, fast asleep by the patio doors.  Adorable and certainly makes a change from his flat on his back, paws up in the air, way of sleeping.

Wednesday 24th June – Day 175

Project 365 2015 Week 25-26

Not the best of days here. But I did have a good Jado Chi session and met Lisa from Ruggles at Leisure for lunch.  We met at Coombe Mill during the Easter holidays and live very close to each other.  It was nice to have some grown up time.  Monkey was all smiles after school (thankfully) and we went to his best friends for a play date.  The boys get on so well and his Mum is lovely.  It was lovely to end the day in a more chilled out atmosphere and we ended it with lots of hugs and smiles.

Thursday 25th June – Day 176

Project 365 2015 Week 25-26

A better day.  Phew! I got on with some work whilst Monkey was at school and then popped over to see a friend for a coffee.  I’m addicted to Tesco Cinnamon Whirls at the moment, so I forced her to share my addiction! School pick up, followed by a favourite dinner here – it was chicken fajitas time.  Then swimming, it was much easier to get Monkey there (woop), he was still reluctant to leave me, and yes, I spent another lesson by the side of the pool, but he did join in.  Didn’t want to kick his legs for the assistant, but I think that’s a case of trust needing to be gained.

Afterwards we went to see Daddy at work, which they both enjoy.  We had the added excitement of a delivery arriving on a big lorry just as we drove up.  That made Monkey’s day.  All is good, all is calm!

Friday 26th June – Day 177

Project 365 2015 Week 25-26

Dress down day for Monkey at school and I spent the day with my youngest niece, which was lovely.  How can she have just left school?  We looked through lots of old photos, bringing back happy memories.  It’s her prom next week and I cannot wait to see her dressed up.  One proud Auntie alert!

Now this photo is special, Monkey made this ‘barn’ at school today and apparently told all of his class mates all about it and what it was for.  Really proud of him, especially with the week we’ve had.  Of course it all went pear-shaped when we tried to Skype Granny and Gramps, but at least, overall, he had a much better day.

Saturday 27th June – Day 178

Project 365 2015 Week 25-26

We will be working with Stamptastic as a brand ambassador and they invited a number of us down to Kew Gardens for the day. I haven’t been for a zillion years so was looking forward to meeting the team, other bloggers and exploring the grounds with Monkey.  The weather was wonderful, company great and Monkey was a complete star.  I was so proud of him, he did occasionally speak to others (in whispers but he did try).  He did the tree top walk, he tried going up the stairs, but we ended up in the lift, but he did the walk.  Then he played in the playground, without me!  Major!  Even more so when I turned round to see him climbing, come down curly slides, being brave and having a ball.  Wonderful, just wonderful.

We’ll gloss over the fact that this country bumpkin got a parking ticket, and hope the council take pity on me, really thought I’d done the right thing.  Thank you too to Stamptastic for offering to pay.  Nothing will wipe the smile off my face at what Monkey achieved today.  Makes up for Wednesday!

  1. A busy two weeks, it was lovely to finally meet you in person at BritMums. Fingers crossed we do the same next year. Sorry to hear that Monkey has had a few bad days but it sounds like today made up for it. Ignoring the parking ticket of course! x

  2. What a busy couple of weeks. It’s great that Monkey found his confidence today. Love that you always have to see the Thames when you go to London! No chance for me to stay on there, had to rush home!
Daughter just caught a glimpse of Brewster and said he’s her favourite type of cat 🙂

  4. Oops to the parking ticket. Sods law isn’t it, that a nice day is spoiled by something like that.

We saw the climbing wall at Banbury show – N didn’t look like he’d be attempting it at any time int he next few years!

  5. You have had a busy couple of weeks! Sorry that Wednesdays are so tough for Monkey, and you, but I am so glad you had such a good day today.

  6. Sounds like a busy week. I’ve only ever got parking tickets twice and both times I thought I’d done the right thing. Hope the council take pity on you, but in my experience they don’t want to know. Feeling envious about BritMums – I missed not seeing everyone, but great that you had such a good time.

Glad you enjoyed brit mums and your Stamptastic day out, but oh dear at the parking ticket.
I think there is nothing nicer than going in and watching your children sleeping, I still pop in and check the grandchildren before I go to bed.

  9. Sounds like a busy couple of weeks! Lovely flowers for Jenny! Wish I could have been there to join in the Britmums fun. Brewester looks so cheeky; a bit like my Felix. Maybe it’s a black and white cat thing.
