The B&W Photography Project Week 56 with PODCast and this week I’m taking you to Cambridge and one of my favourite subjects – stonework.
Monkey and I had gone for a walk around the city of Cambridge and were off to see some dinosaurs at the Sedgewick Museum when I spotted this doorway into one of the College’s. I was immediately taken with the frieze that runs around the archway. The intricate detailing is stunning. I nearly cropped everything else out, but actually I love the differences in texture and design. The column and the doorway, it all works well together but I feel each sector of the photograph also stands apart. Do you agree?
Gorgeous! I really love nooks and crannies like this, they are so cool. Love the detail and craftsmanship of it too. Lovely shot.
So do I, thank you
Yes I agree its really beautiful. We can often miss things like this can’t we. It pays to just look up at times lol
Beautiful detail!
That’s a beautiful doorway – there’s so much to look at in this photo with all the details in the archway.
Wonderful isn’t it
Fab photo – love the way the light and shadows catch the intricate designs 🙂 #bwphotoproject
Glad you didn’t crop it out, I agree that the contrast in tones makes the freize really stand out. I bet it was quite majestic to be standing underneath it and looking at the it in its totality
You have a good eye for detail!
