The Cow Who Climbed a Tree

The Cow Who Climbed a Tree – review and giveaway

As you all know Monkey isn’t one for taking risks, just when I think his confidence is growing and he’s trying new things, something will happen and we take a step backwards. Its great when a book comes along which will hopefully help Monkey learn that its ok to try something unexpected from time to time.  One such book is The Cow Who Climbed a Tree by Gemma Merino.

The Cow Who Climbed a Tree

The Cow Who Climbed a Tree will be published on 10th September through Pan Macmillan and its a charming picture book.  We meet Tina the cow, she’s no ordinary cow and unlike my Monkey, she is quite happy to take risks and try new things.  She even likes to climb trees, which my son did find very funny indeed.

What should Tina find at the top of a tree?  A dragon who soon becomes her friend, and they share their vivid imaginations.  Of course, Tina has to return home, to a family who don’t understand her, a family of cows who just like to eat grass, and no ordinary things you would expect cows to do.

But should they have listened to Tina?  Could they try something new, something different, something unexpected? Would they enjoy it if they did?

I won’t spoil the end of the story, but there is a valuable lesson to be learnt in this book, one which we will talk through with Monkey to try to help him face some fears in the coming weeks.  The paperback will be priced at £6.99 when it is published next month.

  1. A pot of gold so I could treat my family to a holiday abroad and then convert the attic into another bedroom so we can have more babies! 😛 Not asking for much am I. Ha ha.

  2. id love to find my grandparents agt the top of the tree. I miss them everyday and wish they were around to be an amazing influence on my childrens lives as they were in mine. x

  3. A pot of gold would be nice, so I could replace a few things that have past their sell by date, like the laptop I am using, most of the letters have rubbed off.

  4. A brand new house with storage for everything & no damp as our house always seems to need attention.

  5. I’d like to discover a massive amount of money, and discover that the tree really was a money tree and it was going to keep supplying it, because we’d all like to live in a nice house and to be able to afford life’s luxuries once in a while!

  6. I would like to find a magic object that granted unlimited wishes. The first thing I would wish for would be world peace (really!). Then to have one last (fully coherent) day with my Gran, introduce her to my son & tell her all the gossip she’s missed out on these last few years.

  7. A picnic basket filled with lots of yummies and a blanket. Climbing trees is hard work and we’ll all deserve a big picnic full of sandwiches, crisps, fruit and cake at the end!!

  8. I’d like to find a stop watch so I could stop time and breath. I never seem to have enough time to enjoy life, I’m always in a rush and I’m always late.

    1. ^^^^ forgot to say why – I picked this above a winning lottery ticket (which was my initial thought!) because if you have peace in your life that’s pretty priceless.

  9. I would love to find a comfy seat – somewhere peaceful to escape to and what a cracking view I’d have too

  10. I’d like to find the Faraway Tree and see what’s up in the clouds at the top. It would be a guaranteed adventure.

  11. Chocolate, because by the time I’ve climbed all the way to the top of the tree I will definitely be in need of chocolate 😀

  12. A large eagle who will let me climb on his back to take me on a flight to see the world from a bird’s eye view.

  13. I’d like to find the keys to a French villa and natty little sports car. Why? Because I’ve never had either and I reckon it’s time I did!

  14. I’d love to find a door that would take me to Wonderland so I could explore like Alice. I love the madness of it all.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
