Hedgehogs and Owls – Autumn crafts from Baker Ross

You all know that we are big hedgehog lovers here.  We have our hedgehog house all set up in the garden, with a regular visitor and we saw some owls recently when we visited Rosliston Forest Centre.  We’ve been having some autumnal crafting fun with Hedgehogs and Owls from Baker Ross whilst thinking about these lovely animals.

We started with the Hedgehog Pom Pom Decoration Kits, and it made me realise that I’d never shown Monkey how to make a pom pom!  He was fascinated when I showed him the kit and what the end result would look like.  But I did end up having to help him with the threading element of the process.

This kit comes in a set of 3 at £3.75 and contains everything you need.  The foam nose stickers and eyes are self adhesive, so it’s a no mess craft activity too.

The Owl Porcelain plates are a lovely activity, again mess free as we used our Porcelain paint pens to decorate these little plates.  Monkey loves this kind of craft activity and these days he tries so hard to be more precise with his design.  I was instructed to paint an Owl too and we had a lovely session together.

Once we’d finished painting, we let the plates dry over night (needs 4 hours minimum) then popped them into a cold oven, turned the temperature to 160 degrees and baked for 30 minutes.  Once the time was up, I let the oven cool down before we admired our finished handiwork.  These Owl Porcelain Plates come in a pack of 4 for £3.60.

Come back next week to see some fun Halloween craft activities!

About Over 40 and a Mum to One

A Mum with a 9 year old son, enjoying life and having fun as my son travels through school life. We love to get outdoors whenever possible and make the most of the world around us. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing days out, toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure.
