The B&W Photography Project Week 63

The B&W Photography Project Week 63 #bwphotoproject

The B&W Photography Project Week 63 with PODCast and this week I’ve been trying to tackle the spare room AKA dumping zone.  Whilst trying to reach my bookcases I found some old photo albums and got sidetracked.  Before long I was back in 2004, on a trip that started in Singapore, and ended in Penang the day after the tsunami hit.  On Christmas Day I, and the rest of the world were oblivious to the horrors and devastation that was to hit on Boxing Day.  I spent most of the day in Kuala Lumpur before continuing my journey up into Cameron Heights.  I had lunch on Christmas Day outside, sitting by the fountains looking up at this.

At that time the Petronas Towers was still the tallest building in the world.  The twin towers with linking walkway could be seen all over KL and with my love of architecture, I was smitten from the moment I set eyes on this amazing structure.  I took countless photos (in the days before digital cameras), photos from every angle.  We saw it by night and day, and it was a memorable place to sit in front of on Christmas Day.  For the life of me I can’t remember why we didn’t travel up to the walk way.  We’d been up the KL Tower the day before.  Maybe we were tight on time, maybe the queues were too long. I just can’t remember but it was an opportunity missed.  I hope one day to return to look up at this beautiful building, set in an amazing city, in a vibrant country, that I enjoyed visiting so much.  One thing’s for sure, if I do get back there some day, I’ll be going up to the walkway!

Have you visited?

  1. Oh this is an amazing photo and like you, I think I’d be photographing from every angle and would be memorised by the architecture.
It’s somewhere I’ve got close to (and still want to go!) – we were planning to travel to China & KL, we got as far as organising our itinerary and deposit when I found out I was pregnant with Mademoiselle. We haven’t rebooked…yet!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
