Today is all about Jigsaw puzzles and Monkey and I are following a family love of all things jigsaws. My first post of the day is all about my sort of jigsaw puzzle. You may recall that I’ve reviewed a few WASGIJ puzzles before and I’ve been addicted ever since. With the Great British Bake Off back on the screens, I’ve been able to combine a love of baking and puzzles with the WASGIJ The Bake Off and Extension sets!
I love the concept of WASGIJ, look at the picture and them imagine what, in this case, the Judge at the local County Fair sees when she goes to judge the Baking Contest. The extension puzzle is a new idea for me but I was eager to find out what that was about too.
The Bake Off is number 23 in the Original theme of WASGIJ puzzles and has 1000 pieces. As with all jigsaws in this range, the graphics and bright and humorous and full of details. Once I’ve pieced the edges together I rarely look at the box graphic and tend to construct the puzzle blind.
Every so often you need to stand back from the puzzle to really appreciate what’s happening in front of your eyes. This has been a great puzzle to complete.
I do tend to pick out a number of areas that interest me and then piece them together. My puzzle board comes with two removable panels, which are really useful as I work out where each section belongs as the build progresses.
Having recently dropped one of my own bakes, I can totally get the expressions above! From Gingerbread Men on the run to a House of Cards, The Bake Off is full of colourful baking detail. I’m a big fan.
Once I’d completed The Bake Off it was time to look at the 250 piece The Bake Off Extension puzzle. This can actually be completed as a totally stand alone puzzle too.
My puzzle storage board is for a 1000 piece puzzle, so I built this extension on one of the removable boards that I have. There is nothing to guide you with this puzzle and it might be a great way of trying a WASGIJ for the first time. The puzzle has white edging, I’m not sure what the purpose of that is really.
Again, there’s lots of detail to discover as you build the puzzle and the collapsing wedding cake takes centre stage.
The Extension Puzzle is a novel idea and I liked the extra addition to the theme.
I think it would be even better it you could actually link the puzzles together for those of you with bigger storage boards.
The WASGIJ The Bake Off retails at £12.99 (currently on Amazon for £9.99) and the Extension Puzzle is £4.99. I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate links below for your information. Any WASGIJ fan is going to love these puzzles, and if it’s a first experience of this type of puzzle it will also be much enjoyed. My addiction continues!
