Project 365 2015 Week 42

Project 365 2015 Week 42

I’ve been joining in with Project 365 since the start of 2014, and been inspired by The Boy and Me to make sure I take a Photo A Day, Every Day, For A Year! Project 365 2015 Week 42 Days 284-290.

Sunday 11th October – Day 284

Project 365 2015 Week 42

I spent the day at Baddesley Clinton with Iona (Redpeffer) and Jocelyn (The Reading Residence) whilst Daddy P and Monkey spent the day with Iona’s husband and son. Blogging has brought us all some lovely friends.  We chatted away over coffee, walked and chatted some more.  Before we knew it the day was over and I just got home before dark.  The boys had a great day out at Kingsbury Park too which was great.

Monday 12th October – Day 285

Project 365 2015 Week 42

A day catching up with the washing and other boring stuff.  Then off to a friends for a quick catch up over a cuppa before picking Monkey up from school.  I had company in the evening as I was working on the laptop, Brewster loves curling up behind it.

Tuesday 13th October – Day 286

Project 365 2015 Week 42

One of those surreal days.  I dropped Monkey off at school and caught the train to London for a cake decorating event organised by I Just Love It.  It was great fun and I got to have a catch up with Carolynne (Mummy Endeavours) and finally got to meet and actually talk to Jacinta (Jacintaz 3) too.  All was fine until I realised I had to get back across London on the tube with a rather large cake box.  It was going well until the world decided to get on before Piccadilly Circus.  Cue mad cake lady shouting at all and sundry to get out of my way.  By some miracle all the cakes got home in one piece.

Then legged it to school as they were having a ‘children can show you their work’ session. This was the first time Monkey was going to show me his work and it was magical.  He was so proud of his clay porridge pot, and work books.  I could really see the difference since the start of term.  His writing really is coming on, letter formation is improving and his love of maths certainly comes from his father.  He was beaming.  I did feel for the children whose family didn’t come, bless them, they were all sat there with their magic hats, pots and books.  Wanted to go round them all so they had someone to show off to.  These are the times when it rocks being skint, but always being able to be there.

Wednesday 14th October – Day 287

Project 365 2015 Week 42

Jado Chi session went well and got a few job done at home afterwards.  Monkey had a good day at school, he’d got 3 stickers, but wouldn’t give me any clues as to what they were for.  All of a sudden he’s taken to drawing.  He’s never been that fuss and I have a mountain of colouring books that’s he’s never touched. But as I cooked dinner he got hold of a pad and pencils and he was off, creating one masterpiece after another.  It was lovely to watch the concentration.

We caught up with Granny and Gramps on Skype after their holiday only to discover the Windows 10 update had cocked up our webcam.  Grrr, I am never updating anything again, it’s been such a pain in the ****.  Anyway, a man in the know has sorted it out for us, so hopefully we’ll be the right way up next week.

Thursday 15th October – Day 288

Project 365 2015 Week 42

A day spent catching up with blog posts before picking Monkey up from school.  He’d got another two stickers, again no idea what for.  We caught up with his best friend and headed off to the local park with him and his older brother.  The difference in Monkey is amazing, he runs off happily ahead of me, straight to the ‘big boys’ climbing frame and he’s off.  It’s lovely to see my son showing more signs of independence, this term has seen him growing in so many ways.

Back at home and it’s the normal eat me out of house and home before dinner is even on the table.  This boy will look like a banana one day.

Friday 16th October – Day 289

Project 365 2015 Week 42

I made this jigsaw up last night for a review, but Monkey was fascinated with it this morning before breakfast. The illumination changes colour, he was transfixed.  After breakfast we looked at Monkey’s globe.  It was time for a geography lesson Monkey style – Mummy where does xxxx racing driver come from?  and this one? and Mummy where are all the races from?  Well if we can merge our love of Formula One with my love of geography, I’ll be a happy Mummy!

Off for lunch with friends and then it’s nearly the weekend! Monkey had a good day at school and we had lots of fun playing games when he got home.

Saturday 17th October – Day 290

Project 365 2015 Week 42

What a lovely day.  My nephew was playing football near to us so Monkey and I headed off to watch him.  He’s not shown any interest in football before so we had to explain some of the rules to him.  Monkey is shy with so many people, even my brother and sister-in-law, but it was lovely to see him begin to relax and enjoy a kick about with his Uncle and his Auntie got a couple of pre-birthday hugs.  Sounds normal but that’s a biggy here.

The surprises continued as we headed to a birthday party for a little boy from his year at school.  I vaguely knew who the boy was but not his parents.  I’d had to pre-warn them that although Monkey wanted to come, he probably wouldn’t join in.  Well the boy was full of surprises.  They had a bouncy castle in their back garden, and after initial disinterest, Monkey decided to give it a go.  My son doesn’t do bouncy castles.  Today he spent close to 3 hours on one, without being attached to me, and for a large part with me watching on from indoors.  Huge!

  1. I keep ignoring the windows 10 update – just keep my head in the sand with these things! I always feel for the children whose parents can’t / don’t come to open sessions at school and have been gutted in the past to miss things for my own children. Glad to hear Monkey is settling in now 🙂

  2. Wow that bee at work photo is stunning. Hard working things! And that cake looks pretty yummy too 🙂 Sounds like it was a really lovely moment watching your brother and little boy playing footy together.

  3. At our school almost all the parents manage to get there, but in a way I think this makes it worse for the one or two that can’t. So far we’ve always managed to get there for H and that feels good – he likes that we are there to see his work. We went to Baddesley Clinton a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it.

  4. We’ve got a similar puzzle to that Big Ben one but ours doesn’t light up, how cool is that?! The cake decorating lessons looks great fun – would love to do that. Great to meet you the other week too 🙂

  5. Love the cake photo! My skills are severely lacking in that department. So sorry about your Skype, my husband had loads of problems when he updated to Windows 10 as well. Kind of amazing how the little ones keep growing and becoming more independent 🙂

  6. So good to hear how much he’s come on this term. Sounds like everything’s coming together for him both with school work and socially outside of school, getting more independent.

I know what you mean about the open mornings/kids showing work thing. Our school seems to have open morning once a term at the beginning of the school day for parents to have a look at work books. N’s has all of 3 pages drawn on at the moment because their ‘work’ is all practical at the moment. Phonics comes next half term! That’ll be interesting – today my nearly 3yo godson spelt out Conkers – N recognised the N as being in his name and said he couldn’t do the rest (he could probably do 2 or 3 if he tried). Fingers crossed the teacher can get him to try and be more confident about it. I literally had 2 minutes to pop in, have a look. Thankfully N was oblivious to me even nipping in as he was bouncing around the classroom showing off to me. But as he gets older, he’ll have to decide which things he wants me to go to,because his dad’s unlikely to, and I can’t always flex my work around middle of the day school things.

  7. Must be really lovely to see him coming on in so many different ways all of a sudden, well done Monkey.
How nice to meet up with so many bloggers, and how amazing your cakes got home in one piece.

  8. Lovely bee photo, and wow it sounds like it’s been an amazing week for Monkey. It made me smile that he keeps getting stickers and can’t tell you what they’re for. I keep asking my son what he had for lunch and he can’t remember!

  9. the cake looks amazing and well done you on getting it and yourself home in one piece. Lovely to hear your son is coming on in leaps and bounds at school and with socialising. It’s great you can always be there for your son at school, I missed out so much in the early years while i juggled work and home life to make ends meet.

  10. Sounds like it’s been a brilliant week for Monkey! Love the look of that cake… I would have loved to see mad cake lady on the tube 🙂

  11. What a great week for you and Monkey. My youngest son always had a pad and pencils about him!
Children can be so funny at times.. fancy not telling you what the stickers were for…
AND WOW…. Monkey playing without clinging to you. That’s great, shows that his confidence is growing. Lets hope it continues. 🙂

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
