Mini Hornit

Mini Hornit

You may have noticed that Monkey and I travelled down to London last month for the Family Playtime event hosted by Talk to Mums.  We got to see friends and meet a range of brands, some that are already firm family favourites like Tractor Ted, and some for the first time.  One such brand that instantly caught our attention was Mini Hornit.

Mini Hornit

The Mini Hornit is a great little device which fits onto scooters and bikes and has a whole host of lights and sounds features.  As soon as Monkey heard the ‘police siren’ horn sound he was hooked.  The perfect accessory for his police bike!

This has been an instant hit and has really encouraged my reluctant cyclist to try pedal power more regularly.  The Mini Hornit comes with 2 x AAA batteries and a remote control trigger, so children can activate the horn without letting go of the handlebars.  I can confirm that even a novice cyclist like Monkey has been able to work this trigger without any problems at all.

The unit is really easy and quick to fit using the wrap around clips, which will fit to most bikes and scooters (it certainly fits our Maxi Micro Scooter). We were ready to hit the cycle path in a matter of seconds and away we went.

As well as using the remote trigger which can be strapped to the handlebars, you can adjust the settings on the Mini Hornit before setting off.  Whether you want white or green lights, or one of the 25 different sounds for your horn:

Bike Bell – Hooter – Olé Trumpet – Dixie Horn – Cycle Race Klaxon – Racing Car – Motorbike – Car Crash Helicopter – Aeroplane – Bomb Explosion – Laser – UFO – Zapper – Police Car – Fire Engine – BurpFart – Magic Spell –  Magic Carpet – Lion – Elephant – Horse – Rooster – Hornet.

There is also a volume control.  The unit has a weatherproof rating of IP33 and is available in 4 different colourways.  Monkey loves Red so we went for the Red/Blue option.  You can see the other options on the website.

My only quibble with this item, is with the instruction leaflet.  My eyesight even with varifocal contacts isn’t the best and I found it difficult to read the numbers on the diagram with a black background.  But then I’m ancient, so probably not a general issue!

Priced at £14.99 the Mini Hornit can be bought directly from the website, as well as Amazon and Halfords.  It’s been a big hit here and I really like the idea that it’s so easy to change from his bike to scooter and back again.

disclaimer:  we were sent the item mentioned in exchange for an honest review

  1. OMG, N would love this for his bike. I might put it on his Christmas/birthday list for family members…might even persuade his 7 year old cousin to get on his bike if he had one too.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
