Looking after our garden birds

Looking after our garden birds

As winter approaches ever more quickly, it’s a time of year when I try to ensure we do our best with regards to looking after our garden birds.  Food becomes scarcer for them and although we have a few berry laden plants in the garden, not all of our feathered friends like them.

We don’t get quite as many visitors as we used to since Brewster took up residence, but I do like to ensure we keep the ones who do still frequent the bird table well fed.  I received a lovely selection of bird seed and peanuts from Feedem recently, which will hopefully keep our garden birds happy over the next few months.

Feedum are an online retailer offering food for a variety of pets as well as having an extensive range specifically for garden birds.

I decided on the 20kg bag of Albert E James Ltd Garden Wild Bird Seed as it contains seeds suitable for feeders and bird tables with ingredients –  Cut Maize, Wheat, Black Sunflower, Red Dari, White Millet, Canary Seed, Linseed, Black Rape.  All of which will go down well with a selection of different garden birds.  This bag is available for £10.25.

We get a lot of Blue, Great, and Long Tailed Tits in our garden coming down from the trees behind out house.  They are all partial to peanuts so we’ve treated them to the Johnston & Jeff Premium Peanuts for Wild Birds.  The 2kg bag is available for £5.25.

Another garden favourite is the Robin, and we’ll be helping keep them warm this winter with the Johnston & Jeff Robin Mix Wild Bird Seed with Insects.  A 2kg bag costs £4.10.

So the word is out on the dawn chorus, food in plentiful supply and our birds are happy. I’m happy too as Feedum offer free delivery, which is really handy, especially when ordering 20kg bulk bags.
