Rain

Rain – a book review

Now I know at the moment we’re all rather sick of the sight of Rain, but we’ve been enjoying a lovely book which shows us how animals on the African plains might react to the arrival of Rain.  Written by Manya Stojic, this lovely picture book was published through Pavilion Books in November.

Rain

We get so much rain in this country it’s quite hard for Monkey to understand that some countries go months without seeing it.  So this picture book has been a great way of discussing seasons and their effects on different parts of the world and on the animals who live there.

We follow various animals from Porcupines to Lions as the rains approach, they sense its approach in different way, so again, the book lets up explore our own senses and how we are aware of changes around us.

Rain

The book also shows us what happens to the African Savannah as the rains arrive.  The land turns to a shade of green as new life sprouts from the ground and we see how the animals benefit from the rain.

Of course the whole process is cyclical so the picture book ends with sun beating down and drying out the land again.

We’ve enjoyed this book and this discussions that have grown from it, priced at £6.99 I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link below for your reference.
