Half term fun! Cars, soft play, animal track trails and more besides Project 366 2016 Week 7 Day 45-51 with The Boy and Me.
Sunday 14th February – Day 45
We’re big fans of the British Motor Museum and had been waiting for them to re-open after a major refurb. They’d been closed since November and re-opened yesterday, so we headed up the motorway to explore. The new tour collection was really interesting and we got to see the new layout of the existing museum. Monkey particularly enjoyed designing his own Lego car. I was so impressed with his concentration and imagination.
Monday 15th February – Day 46
We drove down to Wiltshire to spend the day with my oldest friend and her daughter. It was bitterly cold and she had a voucher for a Soft Play centre so we thought we’d give it a go. Monkey was in his element, so different from a year ago! We had a lovely day, but I am finding longer drives quite tiring these days.
Tuesday 16th February – Day 47
We really needed some fresh air today even though the temperature was only just above freezing. We’d heard that Stowe had an Animal Tracks Trail and Monkey liked the sound of it. So we wrapped up warm and headed out for a few hours of fun. He found all the tracks and even wrote a few answers himself! There were obviously sticks involved, as always, and Monkey attracted a new friend.
Wednesday 17th February – Day 48
What a difference a day makes, warmer, but very wet and windy. We spent the day with my ex MIL, and after lunch she got out the family Lego. Monkey was thrilled to discover 1970’s train tracks and I was set to work making a house, signal box and signals for the afternoon.
He started to feel a bit unwell so we headed home, hence I’ve only got this snap from the day. We will see if we get much sleep tonight.
In other news, Granny hasn’t been very well and we’ve all been waiting for test results to come back. She had an appointment today and it’s nothing serious, so relief all round.
Thursday 18th February – Day 49
Well the night went better than expected, but Monkey seems very emotional so somethings not quite right. He’s got a cold and a nasty cough too, bless him. I’m on the PMT rollercoaster, and still feel exhausted from the driving earlier in the week, so we decided to have a day at home. The sunshine was calling us, but we just enjoyed looking at it from the warmth of the living room. It was a day of playing games and watching DVD’s.
Friday 19th February – Day 50
‘Monkey struggled to sleep, so neither of us were cooking on gas today. Monkey enjoys craft activities so we spent the afternoon making up a few of our latest Easter Baker Ross sets. We both loved these Paper Flower kits, so simple and effective. They are now to be found dotted all over Monkey’s bedroom.
It’s my oldest friends birthday today, I can’t believe we’ve been buddies for nearly 40 years – where has that time gone!
Here’s hoping for sleep all round tonight. Tomorrow is another day.
Saturday 20th February – Day 51
A full nights sleep and Monkey seems back to normal today. We’ve spent some time with family and then been busy with some craft activities. Monkey decided that his wooden arrows set would be great for using in a treasure hunt. Se he was very keen to colour them in, apparently the red circle is a precious gem. We’ve had a lovely time hunting hidden treasure, AKA Lego pieces in his Lego treasure chest.
Ooh, I’ve heard the British Motor museum is worth a visit, adding that to Easter Holiday to do list.
I hope Granny’s results come back ASAP a decertify is ok! ❤️
Get there early if you want to do the tour – it’s a good place to enjoy
I’m impressed with you doing long drives – I never do long drives!
Good news about Granny, that must be a real relief to you. Glad to hear Monkey is feeling better now. My daughter had a couple of poorly days too.
I’m trying to do less of them tbh as I’m getting so tired. I would normally have been driving all over the country in the holidays, but I just can’t do it so much now.
Pesky germs, glad he’s feeling better. We’ve all had coughs and colds too. The motor museum sounds so good. I think z would love it there!
He’s much better thanks, moaning about going to school this morning instead now
Love the paper flowers and wondering if you came to the soft play near me?! Hope Granny is better soon x
Oh I don’t know – Salisbury?
Love his imagination.
I find driving tiring as well, esp if it is dark and wet.
He looks well wrapped up against the cold,at least the sun was out.
He constantly surprises me with his ideas.
Monkey’s very imaginative with his lego and crafts. I’ve seen a couple of posts now about the new Gaydon, must head up that way again soon as we’ve not been since our first visit a couple of years ago.
If you go to Gaydon and you want to tour the new part, go early as it’s timed tickets on the hour and takes nearly an hour to complete.
Love the paper flowers and the shot in the ball pool. Hope Monkey is full recovered and that everything remains okay with Granny x
It sounds like a nice half term despite the ups and downs. I hope you and Monkey are back on top form this week x
Yes all back to normal thanks
I like the piccie of Monkey in the ball pool.
I remember making flowers like his with my boys.
