Bone by Bone

Bone by Bone – a book review

I love it when a book grips you from the start and you can’t wait to turn the page.  Bone by Bone is written by Sanjida Kay, and it has kept me awake late at night as I just couldn’t put it down!

Bone by Bone

This new paperback will be published through Corvis Books on 3rd March, and if you like a good thriller than I can thoroughly recommend Bone by Bone.

Set in Bristol, we meet Laura and her daughter Autumn.  They’ve recently moved to the area from London, and Laura is looking to start a new life, after her divorce.  Throughout the story we need from each of their perspective as the plot expands and the drama unfolds.

You start the book with a prologue, you start by believing that Autumn has been murdered, so as you continue to read, you have a preconceived idea of where the story is going.  Poor Autumn is being bullied by an older boy at school, and we follow her journey, as both she and her mother deal with the actions and consequences of this bullying.  Friendships that are made begin to unravel, and an adult who was trusted, turns out to be a deadly enemy.

I don’t want to give the full plot line away, but there is a real twist to this story, I was literally holding my breath towards the end of the book.  You, as the reader, are pulled into the story, you empathise with Autumn and her, all too common, situation.  Bone by Bone, builds and builds and the ending doesn’t disappoint.

I loved reading this book, can you tell?  It’s very clever, there are aspects of it that really could happen to any of us.  It certainly makes you think about security, both online and personal.  It shows the harm of physical, verbal and cyber bullying and what lies beneath why a bully acts in the way they do.

I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link in case you want to pre-order Bone by Bone for yourself, you won’t be disappointed in my opinion.
