Wearing Amy Childs Official for Mothers Day

I can’t believe it’s March already!  It’s a busy week for us, as it’s Granny’s birthday tomorrow and then I get to celebrate on Sunday  for Mothers Day too.  It still feels quite weird that Mothers Day is for me as well as my Mum.  6 years and that fact hasn’t quite sunk in.  Just in case I get whisked off somewhere nice you might just find me Wearing Amy Childs Official for Mothers Day this year.

Amy Childs came to fame in The Only Way is Essex, runs her own boutique and has a successful online fashion range at Amy Childs Official. As I’m pear-shaped, with a butt that really doesn’t belong with my bust I decided to go with the Boho styling of the Georgie dress for a change, rather than one of the more fitted body con dresses within the Amy Childs Official range.

My dress arrived crease free and ready to wear – always a bonus.

The v shaped, straped neckline means there’s no need for a necklace.  The long bell sleeves are a total departure for me as I’d normally go for three-quarter length fitted sleeves, but they work well with the lace inserts.  The dress comes with a zip fastening up the back.

I picked a size 8 in the Georgie dress and it fits well.  I’d certainly be fairly confident to try a body con option in the same size.  It’s made of 100% polyester and can be machine washed at 30 degrees and ironed on the reverse with a cool iron.  My only real issue with the dress, is with the lining.  Great that it’s fully lined, but when you don’t have the best of legs and need to wear tights with a polyester lining, it’s a pain.  Static overload, which of course makes the lining cling to you as you walk and the shape of the dress is impaired. I’m sure if my niece with her fab long legs was wearing this dress, she’d have the confidence to bare her legs and wouldn’t have the problem.

The Georgie dress is my first experience of the Amy Childs Official collection and for £49.00 it’s well made and good value for money.  Looking around the collection I really rather like the Matilda and Caroline dresses.

About Over 40 and a Mum to One

I'm a Mum in my late 40′s with an 8 year old son. I had a busy life in Export Sales before my Monkey came along, but decided to become a stay at home Mum once he arrived. Now I enjoy writing my own family lifestyle and travel blog. sharing the adventures that we have as Monkey makes his journey through school. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing days out, toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.

  1. I always think the same about Mother’s day, although my mum’s not around any more but I still need to remember the MIL.
I love the bottom 2 dresses, they were the ones I picked out although too body con for my body shape
